Any of you gurus do this? I would think you would just turn your valves off and top water a recharge only feed maybe once every 7-10 days? I figure adding it to the res would have negative effects on the lines right? What if you cut the amount of recharge down so it is always available with nutes in the res and you kept a large air stone in there?

TIA

You can still bottom feed. Just turn off the valves and manually fill each pot's reservoir. This is a good way to add organics (which ReCharge might be considered to be) that might gunk up feed lines to your feeding. [Most of the time when I used AutoPots I just manually filled the reservoirs, never bothered to use the autofeeding valves.]

Top feeding with AutoPots once they are started up presents the potential problem of salts that have naturally deposited near the surface (where you want them to concentrate with bottom feeding) being dissolved and causing related problems.

Thank you for the feedback. That makes a lot of sense.

I forgot to note that you can continue to do autofeeding, no need to turn the valves off, if you simply add your organic supplements manually to each plant's reservoir. What worked for me was figuring out how much the plants are consuming, such as 1 L/day, and then addiing once daily to each plant's reservoir the proper amount of each supplement for this amount.

Great to know! Are you familiar with the smart pot setups in them? That is what I ordered and was told that airdomes do not work well with smart pot setups. I ordered some anyway. I figure I can run 3 airdomes and 3 without. Compare growth.i know that woukd be easier to get data if they were photo clones but I will be able to check the root mass and stalk sizes.

What was the outcome of the side by side comparison regarding the airdomes vs without?
