hi Doc, I recalled seeing something about uv black lights in my ancient copy of marijuanas growers guide., so I looked it up for ya. back then ruderalis was given a brief mention and then discounted, so the following quote about various not recommended types may also be redundant.

"don't use infrared, black light, ultraviolet (uv), sunlamps or special lamps not designed for human vision or plant growth. these lamps generate most of their energy beyond the visible spectrum and have little effect on photosynthesis. they are a waste of energy and can actually do more harm than good."

Cheers for the info "oldbie" I asked the question because of a chance remark that I read somewhere and the guy said he had tried it on one plant as a test and had a plant of the same strain under lights without the UV and reckoned the one with had loads more crystals over it and wondered if this was true or just "BS" and thought with all the knowledge here on "AFN" there must be others that either had tried this or new about it...

Hi Doc,
you never know, maybe there is something to it, but I'm sure some diligent edge finder has done comprehensive testing and if it revealed a significant improvement, you can bet it would have gone mainstream by now, so unless you have a UV black light lying around, I think I would just concentrate on growing the healthiest plants possible.
