I have a 1.2 x 1.2 x2.0 meter tent and am doing my first soil grow with Trans Siberian auto. I only have 4 plants at the moment at day 8 ( from emerging above, soil) they are doing very well, temps under 600w CFL Blue are 80F and Humidity is around 50 %. (Lights are around 6 inches from the ladies) I am not using any extraction at the present, just passive with a Oscillating fan

In about 3 weeks I plan to install a single 600w HPS cool tube and am wondering what is the best way to go with regards to venting. I could be a cheap ar*se but I want to get this grow right so I can fill the tent for the next grow and would maybe use 2 x 600w HPS cooltubes

With that in mind would a 5 " -125mm TT fan suffice even with 2 cooltubes ? I have heard that TT Fans are not so good, so I am also looking at a more expensive VK Fan, are these worth the extra expense ?

The TT would pull Up to 280 M3/hour Airflow Rate 37w 0.26 amps 36 Db
The VK would pull 355 M3/hour 79w 0.34 amps 46 Db

The TT kit is about £35 cheaper but I think woith the same buddy filter which is rated at Up to 470 m3/hour airflow rate so the filter should be ok with the fan airflow

Would I have enough pull here for the tent size and 2 cooltubes or would i need to go up to 6 " 150 mm
the VK 6" is rated at 460 m3
The TT 6" is rated at 550 M3

These figures seem odd as the TT is weaker at 5" but stronger at 6" !!

thanks for any help I can get, hey and remember I may be an old farty but I am knew to this homegrown game

I would go ahead and get the better six inch fan. Ventilation is not the area you want to skimp on. If you get a cheap fan and it craps out on you those 600w lamps will turn your tent into an easy bake oven. If it's too loud you can always get a voltage regulator and turn it down a bit. A larger fan turned down a bit is much quieter than a smaller fan running at full speed.

You should have an extraction fan on that tent now, do not wait any longer to get that fan. Never leave plants in an unventilated space. Replacing the air is different than circulating the same air.

As a last note I think one six hundo is plenty for that tent, if you try to put two in there the temps will be nearly unmanageable, or completely unmanageable.

Hell yeah getting a new setup, always so exciting! Good luck on your grow!!!

Thanks for the advice peeps, I plan to get the vent setup midweek and will go with a 6" and a controller. If i get reasonable light coverage with 1 cooltube i will stick with that, i think i should comfortably fit 9 autos in there but plan to go DWC for the next grow and things may get cramped

Any thoughts on TT versus VK _ Re Eye i will read that link now

I will start a log/journal soon - i have been keeping notes and photos

Just a couple of pics before i set up a journal to show you how they are doing, this is day 8 from breaking surface ( day 14 from starting germination- glass of water method)

Well i have gone the 6" route ( Freudian slip ?) hope the girls like a good 6 incher..small ones are more juicy !! Should arrive tomorrow.
I dediced to go with a VK fan and acoustic ducting as i heard bad reviews on the TT's, The deal was good, 6inch Fan, ducting, clips, tape, filter for £125 including delivery

Thing is I think I may loose a lot of humidity so i have bought a cheapo fan controller and maybe on low fan speeds i will be able to keep the RH up..if not it's a humidifier..more bloody expenses !!!

I think you'll find that one 600 watt will be enough for your tent. I run an box the same size and had a 600 watt HPS in it before switching to LEDs. I grow 9 plants at a time in there and it was plenty of light. If you felt you needed to supplement it I'd suggest some T5s or LEDs on the sides over a 2nd 600 watter.

I had a 600 watter alone is a small room and felt it was not enough so I put a ring of Cfls around it (eight in all) 45 watters ( equivilant to a 200 watt incadesent. The room grew really well after that addition. To this date it still operates just like thet. Muddy's suggestion would work really well also. Just expanding on it.

Yes I have thought of that. I have 2 x 300 w CFL blue for veg and am thinking of buying some red cfl's to add to the hps and then have them hang vertically and move them around 45 degrees each night. I thought for economy sake, as i am on 24x7, to just use the cfls as a boost during my cheap hours of nighttime elec

are those real 300w a piece or equivalent? When you're talking about CFL or Floro it's best to refer to the actual wattage so people know that you're talking about and can advise better.
