Lighting Vipar LED The Manual.

Just curious faded, did you ever use the same light without cfl's? Reason I ask, is I was going to supplement with CFL but not for more watts, just more light spectrum. If so did you see a noticable (and worthy) change in how the plants reacted? Also what spectrum on the CFL (blue red etc.)

First grow I did was with the V240 LED panel and I added a 300w 9U CFL Red and a 125w red/blue CFL. I had to keep the temps up and the plants were autos so the CFL's did the job perfectly. I'll get the big one back in once winter is here again. Couple of pics of my first grow below,

The next grow was only with led's but they were shit clones so the one I'm doing now will be the decider for me. I did notice that the plants preferred the CFL's to be no closer than 3" or the leaves started browning. Plus with the CFL's I had to wear sunglasses, led's I just switch a white light on and no problems :)

I just bought a vipar v180. Any thoughts on what that could do? I was thinking a small scrog grow. Maybe in in a diy stealh cabinet.

That looks like it was a killer plant Bilbo. I might just do the same as it does get cold here in the winter, very cold. Extra heat/light can only be a good thing in that situation.

Some awesome grows there people. I'm also supplementing my 300w vipar LED with 4 x 30w CFLs, as my LED wouldn't quite cover the whole plant. The branches near the CFLs have plumped up nicely, but have brought my grow room and res temps from about 21 to 25.

The plan was to remove them when my second 300w led I ordered arrives (not vipar, but nearly same spec and build as the C300 I currently own, also from an eBay store.) But depending on grow room temps I may as well keep them in if I can

My electric use has halved since I went back to auto's and can leave the lights on instead of a 1000w heater although I'm pretty sure I'll have to add a CFL during the coldest part of Winter as the LED's just can't keep it warm enough :)

That first grow I only had the V240, added the V300 for the last week once it got too hot with the CFL's in there.
Your grow looks pretty much exactly the same as my first one until I got it in my head I needed loads more light!

Now I've got the 2 panels angled in for the magic crossover of beams. The spot is a red/blue/white lamp for propogating that I leave on 24hours while the panels are on 20/4. I'm getting a Vipar C180 COB unit to provide the top down light and I'm pretty sure I'll be able to use all three led panels all year and 4 side spots during the cooler periods of Summer days. Can't imagine needing any more than that for the next year or so until the next tech comes along.
Big bonus after experimenting for a few weeks is that I can lower canopy temps pretty accurately in my size tent by moving the lights up 2" for every 1 degree C I need to lose.

I've seen a few awesome grows on the interwebz with the 180 UFO lights, just google "180w ufo grow" and pick what suits you best from the many results :)

Sounds like a good idea haha.

I'm thinking about getting another led for my tent. It's 4x2x4 and I already have a 300w (150-170 actual) old model topled. I've been checking out these vipars on ebay and they have some that look just like the one I have from topled except they list 180w as the actual. Almost the same price too. I'm not sure if I should spend money on another led for my grow space but I'm tempted to get that 300w vipar.

I plan on sticking to 3 plants at a time in 2 gallon air pots. What do you guys think? ;3

Update:

So after seeing faded's post I inspected my 300w led again and sure enough there were several bulbs burnt out and only the blue ones... so must be an issue with these.. Contacted seller and they will be sending me replacements plus spares, hopefully they will be better than the ones being replaced..

dude all I got was a little 1 gram bag with 10 leds. no instructions or nothing.i figured I would maybe get a new sticker for the remainding 6 months of warranty.guess I just take that in the ass if it breaks again huh?
