I'm glad you like! Like I said, there's a lot to digest here, more even if you squint to see in between the lines, so to speak...! I'm not sure exactly what Muddy's driving at on the soil,... TLO or a 'tuned up' store bought soil, which is what friend Doobie started out doing, and then evolved into a TLO,... I'll ask him for specifics! As for light duration, I don't think he's saying that it's the primary reason for leafy buds, but it's a contributing factor,...I suspect that weaker light intensity, regardless of duration would be a bigger factor in this, vs. shorter hours of high intensity...(and that gets us into plant physiology 101!) .... which leads us to the bloom fert's and supp.'s issue, and where I think the real tricky skills begin when working with auto's... We're warned by words and hard knock example about overfeeding so much, it makes us n00b's gun shy about it through the whole life cycle.... for me, it was N that was the culprit, and from there on I was conservative with everything, when in fact I should have rode the plants harder on P during the transition nute regime into full bloom... But making the call on that is easier said than done, ay? throw in the genetics, (strain to strain, pheno to pheno), which we can do nothing about, nor detect in any way until we get the results, and the waters become so muddy,....where to point the finger of blame for leafy shrimpy results..?
My B. Lee's are a perfect example of this: now, the two show marked differences in their buds- one has 'normal, albeit smallish, buds with nice trich coverage, and the other larger plant has more leafy, narrow buds that are notably heavier in trich' production!
Fuck!? how do you win??! ...So, all we can do is help boost whatever they're gonna grow, and more aggressive bloom nute's are a big part of it, just like your homies said! Just keep in mind it's no panacea against leafy tendencies; if one gets an inferior plant, and then it's TFB nothing can be done...and one can't tell until blooming,... more craps shooting! :joint: As Muddy says, it's early in the game for auto's; some will be near sure winners, barring grower error, others are a roll of the dice, and some are pure schwag....(like that BlimBurned seed you got). All we can do is to research carefully, apples to apples, other folks' grows AND breeder choices..., then throw our hat into the ring! (LOL! granted we can find the info, or if it's here at all at the time we choose...)That is a bunch of 'technically correct' marketing dogshit! Yeah, it can 'grow' outside then, but don't expect doodly-crap from the plant! That has been one of the hard knock sucker lessons hapless n00b's like us, just looking into auto's, get to step in first and find out about later....they can grow outside from March thru November...
BTW, I had your spicy honey cousin on my bratwurst tonight, and it was fantastic!
LOL! I know, what kinda :worm: am I?! :roflcry: .... Yeah, my thoughts don't usually come in short, vacuous, blurbs....
Musturd! My hope was that this thread would be a good place to cruise through for n00b's like me, and reward those who bother themselves to look for hints and help before they get started and along the way,... that's why it's a bit verbose and info dense! ... sometimes brutally honest....Plus, as you know well, there's always going to be some fine folks who tag along and share experiences with :smoke: It's all good! I do see a lot from you and the Missus' posted here, and enjoy what I can get to follow,... LOL! there's only so many hours in a day, and so many great growers here!.... Thanks mate!I was feeling pretty pissy a day or so ago :twist: but just thinking about the issues reflectively has made me feel better about this auto grow. And less like just putting the whole crop in a pile and setting it on fire. Well, I'll probably still set it on fire, just not all at once...
Amen, to both of you. I needed to read that tonight, after the last few days, and had to at least respond to that tonight. :clap:So, mon Cherie, I to feel the same as you do sometimes about our grow, and auto's in general,... but then I remind myself that this is the sucky, difficult part of the learning curve we're climbing, I (and you) know we can do better... the scientist in me tells me that I didn't run the experiment right this time, so I better not read much into the results until another better trial is run! If this next grow frag's out on me though, I'm done with auto's for a while, or until maybe an indoor grow opportunity comes along.... With other viable alternatives, like Cres' early/fast finishers, there are options that average the best of both worlds...

Yea, I don't know if you caught Xs diagnosis before I hit delete ,but he also confirmed leaf minors. Which by the way, I will not be deleting anymore threads in the Hospital/Infirmary section. I did not even consider that it might help others with the same issues. I am sure you are like this also, that if you aren't sure what is going on with your ladies, you do all that you can to self-diagnose the problem yourself. For myself, that includes using the search engine here at AFN, and entering key words for said issues, and more times than not, there are others that have already asked for help in the Hospital/Infirmary section.Stickbro' you crazy ol' hippy! Remember the pics from the thread that got term'ed the next day? (at least that's where I think I saw them,... LOL! I went a little bat-shit for a minute there trying to find them, then remembered "duh, this missing thread!"!) I mentioned what I thought was suspect leaves way down low in that last pic... these were the 'brown lines', right? running parallel to some heavier rib-veins...? The spinosad should tune those little ***** up, nicely!
No, on the wolverines, but a big yes on the great grey owls. We usually have a pair that hang around close to the house in the trees. Have to keep an eye on my male toy poodle, who only weighs around 7 pounds. We don't have much else here except the occasional moose, wild turkeys, pheasants, oh did I mention deer?Stick, don't you have wolverines, great grey owls, and all kinds of other interesting wildlife where you're at?
Yea, we are still seeing those night time temps in that range, even though we are seeing upper 70s-mid 80s for day time temps. Our elevation here is at 2100 feet, so not all that high, but we live in a abnormally cold micro-climate.The ambient air temps are still in the low to mid 40s at night, but I think I have plenty of heat sink mass in the hoopy, with the hot tubs and the 50 gallon water barrel.
Wow, still? With the solstice 2 steps away now? I gather you're at some elevation, then...
Yea, I feel the same way, it would be awesome to be able to make a career out of this in some way. I am reading and learning all I can on Botany in general, and of course specializing in Cannabis. I have always loved science, but really never had/took the time to learn it. I've known how to grow veggies, herbs, and flowers for years, just not any of the science behind plant physiology. I basically dropped out of school when I was 15 to work..... Well, work and partying. But I have always enjoyed learning.I'd love to make a career of this somehow, someway, but even if you attend Oaksterdam Univ., the only way to learn is to 'do', and boy is it fun- usually! Success tastes all the sweeter for having taken some beatings along the way...
Believe it or not in all the years I've been gardening, I have never heard of, or used SuperThrive, as I have always just made my own compost/manure/FE teas. I just looked it up and was blown away to learn that it has been on the market since 1940. One drop per gallon,.. wowser. Had to do a little bit of digging, but found that it that it is indeed organic. Will pick some up, next time I'm in town. Well that will be Thursday, get to spend $550 at the Dentist then, so what's a few more bucks for some O that superjuice. Thanks for the tip on spraying the residue off in a day or so. After I read that I had another Duh moment.Aw, c'mon now Stick, you saw how well they reacted to that super-juice,... imagine if you put Superthrive in there too! They'd have kick down your door that night and demanded seconds! As long as the leftover residues get rinsed off within a day or so, weather depending, I think the occasional 'treat' is a good thing! besides, with the fish emulsion in there, many bugs might be repelled by that mixed in with the molasses.... ditto for the superthrive! B-vit's smell sooo gnarly!!
Thanks, I will take you up on that.so, I still say you have the green light to pop in at my thread, and make special guest appearances, with any pics of the ladies you'd like to share and we'd like to see,... it's all good, mate!
Well, the more I am learning about plant physiology, the more I realize just how important the overall root structure/mass is.IMHO the root system has to work that much harder growing straight down in the cup, and only then is it able to branch out latterly. Maybe this does not matter when growing with chem nutes, but I believe it very important when growing with TLO soils. But, then again, maybe I'm just out to lunch on that as well. I was able to gently cut the cups off of some of the Autos in which the soil had settled enough, and fill around them with TLO. I know it is too late for any additional veg growth, but just maybe it may help with the buds filling out a little more than they would have. It will be interesting to see after harvest, just how much the roots will have grown out latterly half way the grow, after removing the cups. There must be some misunderstanding about the tiering method ......
Yea, you and me both on growing the Autos outside, but like you, we shall see with this next Auto grow. I'm betting your glad that you are trying some HRs early/fast finishing Photos.( the MOB), this year. You saw what the sensei's had to say If I knew the real truth, the statistical likelihood of subpar results from outdoor growing, and all the other SNAFU packed 'fun' with auto's, I just may not have even bothered, and stuck with photo's.

LOL! I'll make good on my olfactory report tomorrow, along with a belated update,.... just too many matches in my toes lately! I'll head your way after this..... Dewd! Jump in anywhere, anyway :booya:it's not like this pool is crowded! Not like "Lake Rebel",... :roflcry: Shiiiiiiit, that cat needs a secretary.... :smoke: thanks for the swing-by, mate! see you at your place...Sir Doobage! I saw your iron-nugget Buddha gal made it into the BOM comp.! :booya: Yaaaa- boi!! ... what a shame we can't smell all the wonderful aromas in that show,... LOL! I know, my turn to lag on the nose-report!Next day or 2, I'll get it posted! Aromatics are still refining at this point, of course...
.. I'm dyin' to see how they're doing! Waira, I want you to know that I so appreciate your continued support and encouragement to me.
I do have a lot on my plate, but much of it my own making. At my age I just don't know any other way, as it's part of who I am. All the years in construction, my motto was "go hard, or go home", and yes I am talking strictly about work ethics here.I have always been hard on myself, and I could be a real prick to work for at times, due to the fact that I would project that on others.
:roflcry: And no 'projecting'!! Bad boss!- that's a baaaad boss! :firedevil: LOL! Don't make me call Dr. Phil,... :jaw: ...okay, next....Pshh- yeah! -real foggy! Summers here,... fog's the norm,... Usually though it clears up enough to get some nice prime-time sun... Ah! I did catch X's post... Self diagnosis is a great tool/skill, and even if you don't get a firm conclusion, it really helps in asking the right questions, huh! Between my books, and the vast mine of info here (with that improved search tool for a bulldozer), we're rather well set up; add in access to Sensei level help that's just a message away, and we're off the hook good here!!Hey waira, you crazy Central Californian down there where you have REAL summers!
**** I think the Spinosad is hard to beat, Stick,.. <--( pun intended)! We have no long term contact/proximity type of nukes that are safe enough (that I'm aware of,..maybe pyrethrum?), but as a contact poison that's so nonreactive with the plants, and soil microbes, but hell on the vermin, it's tops! My results over the last month on thrips has been great,... I've hit'm 3-4 times, (soil too, not heavy), and between that and the DE, I WON :twist: As you know, any really mobile vermin (aphids are endless for me) just won't stay away, so vigilance is really the first weapon we have... Ditto for fungal's!.... with your cooler nights, I'm not surprised that you're getting some spotting here and there. Mosaic fungus? We know virus' form these pattern necrotic patches, but I dunno about fungals... you tell me! The color change also smacks of virus,... dammit! I have a particular hate for virus'.... orchids that catch them are doomed, even if they can live they're still a liability, and so must be destroyed, literally (into the actual garbage, never into compost)...
<-- Cobra- Very nice trich's, and a very sweet aroma, with a little bit of strawberry cheesecake in there (hope this stays!)
<-- Star Ryder- like a cola top stuck in the ground! Mild floral/fruity smell...
<-- pale Star Ryder- similar, but with a bit of that incensey background...
<-- petite Red dwarf- smells sweet spice/ fruity, still a bit of chz in there too...
<-- Red Dwarf- decidedly earthy-spicey, no sweetness...
<-- B. Lee- sweet spice, little floral
<-- B. Lee- (taller) this one has more of that sweet candy smell, a bit of citrus like it should too...
<-- Mi5- Earthy-spicy, still kinda unrefined yet,... but sticky!
... lost a cotl. and a first leaf, but not the heart fortunately... I guess whatever ate it didn't really like it much! *whew* there're only 2 of these, and if I lost one like that, blue jet flames would fire out my ass! LOL! :beast:
<-- RRF- (couple light settings here); kinda scrawny buds, but pretty frosty and plenty of kick! Thanks to Stitch for very good potency genetics! (on both actually)... high is surprisingly heavy,... relaxing, which is weird given the other reports on it, and I believe it's satv. dominant...

<-- Cobra-(mini) Even frostier! Really nice buzz- balanced, mellow, and close to top shelf strong! I pulled this one a bit early, w/ trich's just turned cloudy, sun leaves fully yellowed, but bud leaves just fading; I'm letting the other Cobra go well past this, until bud leaves yellow up some,... we'll see what kind of ambering goes down by then...
