New Grower Waira's 11-strain-in-the-membrane outdoor grow

{Mz. S' :smokeit:}
Do they have decent crystals to make up for the "short"age? << see what I did there?
Oh hoohoo,..man, you best have some crackers for that cheese, GF! LOL! ...Yes, the UV's are well stocked with trichomes :dance2: I think they'll make fine hash indeed,... When I looked into my strain choices, I was picky about them, and I know UV has a very good rep', so I just don't know that they were bad phenos, or just really pissy like several of the others (note prev. post)... Muddy said it was likely a combo of things, that caused such stunting across the proverbial strain board... **** One can't argue with good results, so I'm going Smart pots + RO soil, thanks to you luv! I'm trying to eliminate some variables in the whole equation this time, and I'll be asking some Big Hats for advise and input very shortly- (Muddy, Headpiece, Dubv, Lavatera, Si1984, Mr. nice Smoke, (tester)X, goAuto6) are all test growers of choice by Cres-san, so I hope to get majorly clued in by some of these worthies, starting with Cres of course!...(he's the breeder).... No more WTF awards! :joint:
Our harvest times will be all closer to 12 weeks, I'm guessing... that's life outdoors! As we're seeing, in their last few weeks of ripening the girls are really getting down to business, and I think some of my runts are going to redeem themselves somewhat, which pleases me mightily! :smoke:

Well this will just be a taste ..should have lots of different meds to try and tune in what you want to grow..i dont know if you have a plan or end goal for some strains you like.Just make sure you go out with a BANG! AND grow a monster!LOL NEVER COUNT OUT A RUNT EVER! lol

Good luck with the willpower to stop lol growing is crackish lol

Mr. Doobage :toke: If I had my way, mate, I'd be shirtless in overalls, straw hat and pitchfork in hand all year! LOL! Okay, maybe not quite that hayseed, but you get the drift! ... Talk about crack-jonesing!- I'm absolutely grinding on the wait for my HR seeds :roflcry: And I'd be all over that TLO soil like butter on toast too! No matter how you slice it, managing the plants nutrients is a long developed skill, whether it's becoming a set-it-and-forget-it soil Sensei, or working the minutia of the myriad of fert's and sup's,... I favor the KISS methodology, but I also love to watch these hydro/soilless masters go mad scientist, as I'm a biologist/scientist myself and can really appreciate the razors edge of running plants at their maximum potential, and what it takes to do this! **** There'll be a nicely stocked 'appetizer' size plate of strains to sample, if all goes well,... and we'll see how the quality turns out too! I live in a MJ legal state, (lucky me!), and as such the bar for quality is set preeeetty high :brow: ... with a fair mind to auto's, which are at a bit of disadvantage against photo's for outright potency....again, theoretically! I gather Cres' auto's are just plain fierce by any measure, and that's why I chose his gear over other Seed Inc.'s ... As for your runts, you got some Ju-Ju with that brother! My shorties though, were clearly done when they got a little cooked, as you can see.... Just for laughs maube I'll post a pic of the total runts, late germer's, that are only a few inches or so tall, at nearly the same age as the others! :jaw: Thanks Doob!:buds:

Hey, Stickmensch! You tough ol' grizzled bear you...:smoke: LOL! ...How are you and things up there in the great NW? I trust farm livin' is treating you okay... Good to hear from you, and thanks much for the kind words :toke:,... Much nicer than I've been saying to some of my crew! (*snort*... rascals,... good one Stick') ... BTW, for brevities' sake I'll respond to your PM here as well...
Never made it to town to get the GreenAll chelated Fe/Mn/Zn/Cu + 2-0-0 N,so I just decided to mix up a foliar spray with what I had on hand: 1 tbls. each per gallon of blood meal, High N Mexican Bat guano, Sea Kelp, and fish emulsion. Fried all my plants.:cuss: Just kidding :D
---- :yoinks:  :finger: Oh man, you almost got me there! As I'm reading it, in my head I'm saying, "uh-huh- w-what? whoa whoa!!- aaaAAAHshit! good one, ya bah-stahd..! LOL! Well, no need for the Iron stuff now I guess... How are the plants liking that TLO goodness? Man, I wish I had the time to try...
I MUST start taking pictures to post soon!
<-- yeah, nothing like showing the goods, mate! Are you still thinking of starting a thread? or likely, there's just no time, huh... I swear, nothing eats the clock like this forum diving shit! You look up at the clock and hours have passed, unaccountably!... I'm grinding big time on getting things going, but RCMC has a rep' for being slow.... small blame, I guess, since I think it's just the one chap up there scrambling about... **** I'm going with HF for starting mix, and setting up the pots just like X said to do- ("I hollow out an area first, in the main pot, about the size of a large beer cup. After I have watered the TLO in real well, I remove the cup and put my seedling mix (FFHF) in the hollowed out area, and water that in well. After that, I place my germinated fem seed in the middle of the seedling mix. I keep the seedling mix moist with a mister until the seedling is at least a couple weeks old.") As for the Roots soil, I think that's too hot for most auto seedlings, Stick... in fact, a cat named RobWars here grows totally in HF, and gets rockin' results! So, you're not the only one losing sleep combing through the threads for those little golden nuggets of relevant info :joint:... I'm quizzing Mr. NiceSmoke about some things, and will run my final plan by Cres-san as well very soon; I have most of it laid out, really, I'm just trying to get some specifics on feeding regimes with HR auto's,.... LOL! as we know, they don't all like the same meals, do they!! ..... Oh yeah! -The 2 Crm. Mandarines and Crm. Caramel (CM and CC for now on!) have all germ'ed beautifully in less than 24hrs, and are in their smart pots indoors for now,...waiting to pop out before they go outside... I hate to call them guinea pigs, since they're both excellent strains, but they're 'on point', regardless, so fingers crossed!
Actually I just put 4 germed beans into 23 oz Air Pot propagation containers today. I will start a couple of Ghaze x C99 next week into final containers, since they are fems. I dont know if I mentioned it, but I now realize that I started all of my other Auto Strains 5 weeks too early to leave outside at night. It is still getting in the low 40s here at night. Yea, I know that I could leave them in the hoop house at night, but it sounds like I would just be asking for stuntaition .
-How are those little gems doing? Does the hoop house still get that cool at night? Maybe if they were nested in with the bigger girls for ambient warmth, or put in a box/crate wrapped in bubble wrap, they would be okay... I hear you about the cool though; it's been kinda shitty here, on and off and on, this whole Spring. Plus, it's getting to be fog season around here too,... Live, sweat it, and learn, right?! LOL! Oh yes, the strain choices,...: I asked for a mix of GhzxC99xC99, GhDxC99, Ghd, and MOB (Maines own Blueberry) showed up by order time, and even though it's not an true auto, it is fast, and I'm dying to finally try a Blueberry cross of some kind,... and with Cres you know it'll be shweeeet! *** I dig how you're experimenting with the various pot sizes and LST... One or two of my girls probably could have benefited from this, but at the time it wasn't on the plate,... maybe this time, we'll see...* sigh* more research! Hey, did those girls get knock-up? :hump: (which strain?) sounds like fun to me,..Along with growing the big-tub beastie chicks too! :booya:
Ok, Im off to crash, even though I was in bed most of the day overwhelmed by pain. Oh well, at least I can do so much more than many people, and that I am grateful for. MMJ has truly changed my life. I'm really digging (that word dates me) learning and doing everything one can do with this incredible plant.
Ah man, Stick, it kills me to hear that... I'm humbled clear out of bitching about my semi-crappy knee,... LOL! ( see beginning opener line).... I'd tell you to take it easy, but that aint' gonna happen! :smoke: ... Mz. S' says "Hi Stick!" too! Thanks for checking in brother, we can dig it! :pimp: :roflcry:

Hey my friend, It’s 6 in the a.m. and I thought it best to finally respond back before I go out and hit it. Coffee in hand of course.

I started germing 2 Ghaze x C99 yesterday morning and got 2 5 gallon Smart Pots ready to go last night, in hopes that the beans have popped this morning. I will go check on them here shortly.

I’ve read very good reports on both of these strains, can’t wait to see your ladies progress!

I think I posted in my thread that the girls are getting to stay out all night now. I read a post by Muddy, where he stated it is more about the roots not getting too cold. Also put a 50 gallon water barrel in the hoopy, primarily so that the water is nice and warm for watering the ladies, but also adding much warmth during the night. Duh, Mr. obvious (me)

LOL! Oh yes, the strain choices,...: I asked for a mix of GhzxC99xC99, GhDxC99, Ghd, and MOB (Maines own Blueberry)
I’m envious of your bean choices, especially the Ghd, and MOB (Maines own Blueberry)
The Ghd sounds like some potent smoke, even if it is smallish growing. Like Cress states, “nice breeding stock”. I can already tell that I will certainly be learning and doing more breeding experimentation for myself and to share with others.

Yea, LST is definitely worth doing. I’m already sold. I just came across a very good tutorial on it. Here is the link.http://growher.com/low-stress-training.php

Hey, did those girls get knock-up? (which strain?)

Still not sure if the girls did get knocked up yet, but I’m sure they did. Dad was a Karma Dragon (Bad Betty x Black Dragon.) The girls I hit were one of the Karmas, 2 Duurty Dragons and an Easy Rider Auto x Russian Dragon. I will keep you posted.

Ok, it’s off to the nursery. Catch later.

Yea i dont know how many runts you had but if you had more then 2 it would either be the gear or invornmental soil/ heat ect just what i was thinking anyway I just took what the experts said to do with TLO and what they said to do with Semi soil less and Organic nutes and put them all together in 1 jumble lol As i learned more it got better and now im tuning it in to get those big colas..no nutes in veg or supa light veg nutes and b1 for rooting then cal mag+ cuz i have leds and bloom nutes thats it..now i have good veg method getting my bloom going now too as you can see and OMG the buds are ROCK HARD!

<WEEK 9> I'm trying to get some nice close up's to show off the sticky goodness, but my technique needs refining (LOL!).. The camera's macro is limited, and so I'm shooting through a magnifier to help, but the fine detail isn't coming through...

002.jpg001.jpg<-- Red Dwarf (petite)- this one keeps foolin' me! She's been budding the longest, but so far shows no sign of yellowing, and she keeps adding on little bits...
006.jpg007.jpg<-- Cobra- This one needs a another several days, but her shorty sister is now in the 'closet'!...
003.jpg004.jpg<-- Red Dwarf #2- getting there...
009.jpg011.jpg<-- B. Lee c/u- still building goods, and getting more frosty! Aroma is wonderful...
010.jpg008.jpg<-- B. Lee's
012.jpg013.jpg<-- Star Ryder (pale)- Both pheno's are in no apparent hurry, which is fine as they also fatten up some meanwhile...
015.jpg014.jpg<-- Star Ryder (purp.)

018.jpg019.jpg<-- Hercules- Still building up those odd skinny buds, but they're frosty....

016.jpg017.jpg<-- MI5- pretty
much doing the same thing as before, trying to stuff and stack more buddage all around...

Week 9!! A Cobra, RRF, and a UV are now in the apprx. 2-day pre-harvest dark cycle in hopes of fattening up the trichomes as much as possible. :smoke: The other UV, RRF, and PK need a few more days before they go in; the UV's, RFF, and PK will likely become hash material, since they didn't put out much actual bud, but have plenty if sticky 'bud leaves'... Damn shame about the PK, I was really looking forward to that one... Looks like the RD #2 and the other Cobra will be next to finish, while the rest of the girls will be in a dead heat to finish around 11 weeks,... The BL's are finally showing yellow on fan leaves, but continue to bulk up those nice sticky buds! Some morning soon, I'll go out when the aromatics are peaking and put my nose to work on describing them :brow: There's certainly lots of fantastic aromas wafting around at that time, even through the day now...
I'm getting antsy waiting for them to all finish,... mostly because I'm hot to get going on the HighRise gear!! :dance2:the seeds are here, and the MOB's are already germ'ed and planted; Tues. I should get the rest of my smart pots, and more Roots soil should be in by then too (store ran out, again dammit!) So, late next week, I'll dovetail this grow thread into the new one,... details not firmed up yet! Of course, I'll have trimmed down pre-harvest pics for all relevant plants as they come in,...

The girls are looking fantastic Waira!!! Starting to take off on the buddage production!! Ow OW OWW!!
Hi Stickbrother! Sucky news about this trouble!.... I'll help with what I can,...your pics are okay, if they're in focus, mate! Let me go line by line here....
Yea, I need to sit down with the manual for that camera, and see what I can do for it being so out of focus. If not well, I guess a new camera is in my future as I see it as a needful tool in ones cultivating toolkit.

After reading your response, and your experience dealing with fungus and pest on Orchids, and Im sure many other species of plants. I completely forgot that you were a professional Nursery Person. I felt very confident in your sound advice. But you may here from my lawyer anyway.:D Anyway, going back at and looking at the best shots I uploaded in my thread, it was truly embarrassing posting those so out of focus, showing no real Clarity of the problem areas.

One Auto leaf looks as if it has a nute burn in the middle of it.
<-- That smacks of fungus; does the spot look wet, gooey, sweaty, that kinda thing? Neem spray, or whatever is recommended here (haven't had this prob before); sulphur spray, or powder mixed with surfactant and water to a tempura paint consistency and painted on top/bot....
No was not wet, gooey, sweaty, etc. Looked more like a critter had chomped thru it. Also a few like spots on a couple of leaves on other plants, not bad though. I must somewhat consider the environmental growing conditions. Im basically growing in a Pine Forest, with lots of tall fauna, both short and tall. All critter havens to be sure. In fact this year we for the first time of living in the woods for 25 years have had a tick epidemic.

The bottom line is after many hours of research on Friday night I felt that the Monterey Insect Spray with Spinosad would be the best solution as a full spectrum insecticidal for my application. So, I went in to town, first thing Saturday morning, and I was at the grow store when it opened, wish now I would have also picked up something like Dr. Bonners Pure Castille Soap to make some natural fungicide with. The ladies didn't look any worse this morning. Anyway, sprayed all 22 of the whole plants everywhere, including the soil.

Just went to water the 3 Dragons in my tent, that I am growing out in there, as well as 7 more seedlings, and both of my Ghaze x C99, which both just poked their heads up out of the soil.:booya: Also noticed some of the white spots/trails and a couple of brown spot on a couple leaves of each of the Dragons. Out they went and got dosed with insecticidal. None of the outdoor plants have ever been back in there. So that leads me to assume that either the eggs were in the bagged compost mix I used for my TLO, or the critters found their way into the soil when I had it outside cooking. I do have a 30x jewelers loupe, but still could not verify exactly what is causing said issues, but overall it definitely looks like insects, but still not ruling out a fungus to boot.

I will keep you apprised on my little problems. I feel confident (not cocky) that it will get sorted out before to much damage is done. Famous last words.:D

Ok, I need to go dark now.

Thanks again for all your help and continued encouragement.

Oh, I just came on AFN to post this ( I usually write longer post in Word, and then copy and paste). Saw your PM, and no I still have not gone Ninja yet. I'll try to get out there tomorrow night. I'm way to toast now (probably get lost just going out there), been another long busy day. And yes, I will not hesitate to PM Muddy or JM if need be. I know they are both, the best of people.

Good night my friend.
:peace:
