Well. Things are going downhill fast

Remind me why you keep you want to probe me ,,,

I hate writing about using that damn thing because there’s always at least one stoned dude that reads it and starts giggling like Beavis saying, “You said “probe!” Heh heh” LMAO! Would referring to it as a “shaft” be better? Wait....NO way! “Dude, he said, “shaft!” Heh heh heh!” Maybe I should just call it the “pH thingy-majigger?” Any suggestions?

:xmas:

I was using ph up because after nutes the ph ends up being just a tad low.. like 5.8 or something ... the ph up was to bring it to the neighborhood of 6.5.. I’m not sure where someone go the other idea from. I wouldn’t add ph up if it was already 6.5

So I didn’t see any responses yet and it was time to water them.. since they were 6.8 I reasoned maybe a lower ph would be good. So I only brought it to 6.2 when I watered , I used a pinch of sweet candy in the water but otherwise fed plain water, they can get nutes next time I guess.

I’ll get back to reading those responses I just needed to correct that error

@DTOM420.. thanks for explaining how the probe works. I’ll be checking them today just to see what the moisture is,,, I know they dry out at different times so I want to make sure before they get watered n fed. It’s funny you ended up suggesting to water at 6-6.2, I had to just make a decision quickly the other day because I was leaving for holidays and ended up going with about 6.2

I had been thinking I should just make a recap or summary of some kind, in just 1 post because it has gotten kind of long .. these plants have been having issues since November so yeah, we are up to page 9 now.. so it’s too much to read through.. I’ll just start a new thread sometime today when I got some time.. unfortunately for most of this I was waiting around for that lost ph probe in The mail

You need to check ph after an hour of nutes being in. But stop using the ph up. Thats probably been the problem all along.

I’m a little confused. What do you mean? If the ph is pretty low like 5.5 or something and it’s going in soil and not hydro ....you’re saying not to adjust it?

Mix up your nutes the day before without ph up, then check and see if its still 5.5. If your nutes are still dipping to 5.5 then mix water 50/50 distilled and tap.

Oh I see, sorry I didn’t understand what you meant at first, so you’re saying the ph reading when the nutes get mixed reads differently when they’re first mixed? I could see how correcting the ph and then the ph changing could be bad.. so I’ll leave it mixed ahead of time and see what it is

I checked the plants with the accurate 8 ph / moisture probe today at the roots & they are still reading 6.8 on 2 plants ...and just under 6.4 on the third... 1 plant is totally dry , 1 is half way and 1 is a bit wetter, the droopy blue amnesia. I feel like it’s soil got too compact from over watering and it just hasn’t corrected.. the top part of the soil is bone dry like the rest but the soil is more compact than the others and they don’t droop so... hmm

the bottom is like hard as a rock I’m ready to point a fan at it and elevate the fabric pot up off the ground so that air can go underneath it, I didnt realize it was having this issue. I thought maybe phosphorus def at first but the root ph is 6.4

- pushing the button is for activating the moisture meter ... did you read up on the instructions? for pH, you just buff the tip clean, then insert to about half way and let it sit for a couple minutes, and read it,... don't take readings after you feed, it skews the results temporarily,...wait a day first! Also, this probe works best in well moistened soil, not saturated, or any kind of dry, that will give iffy results,... 6.8 is a bit high, 6.5 or a bit lower for true soil is best,...
roots may have been damage by drying out, or staying wet too long and rotting some,... keep the moisture levels more even top to bottom,....
