What is this? Seedling killer

:toke: What's the T and RH% in there mate? "damping off" is a fungal issue, more than one kind does it as well,... consider getting pure neem oil and/or a specialized bacterial inoculant (Armory or Actinovate for example) that attacks these pathogens,... I know it's a pain to balance getting the RH% and T right, air movement, and moisture levels in the medium; usually the ten conditions are close enough though,.... seedlings do want nice even constant moisture, higher RH%, gentle air movement... I make sure the soil/medium is nicely moist at all times, but use a mister to rewet the surface level without putting too much extra in,...

Temp is running 75-77
RH 45-50 ( I do not have a humidifier at this point)
I have a clip on oscillating fan, that is sweeping the area, but I keep the bottom out of a plastic sundae cup over the top of the seedlings. I’m pretty sure the husband has been misting with the spray bottle a little too much. Or I need to remove the dome sooner than I have been.
With the neem oil should I just use this as a foliar spray or apply to soil? Use 70/30 coco perlite. Is there a mix ratio for this? I’m gonna read up on the armory. I have also heard of people using great white, sensizyme. From lurking the site over the past year, before I ever started: I noticed you seem to be very knowledgeable. Do ya feel like saving me hours of research and explaining which would be best for me to use? And why, I love to know why, Lol. Thank you for your reply. I will go purchase neem oil here directly and hopefully get this fungus under control before it claims more of my girls. :bighug:Thank you

Had this happen when first started had no holes in Dixie cup.i fixed it by spraying white powdery fungus off and letting it dry out took longer then was worth to recover. Now I use jiffy pellet and Dixie cup over it. Day and a half sprout everytime.

Damping off, let the coco dry out between watering also stop putting a dome on them.

I’m using hefty cups like the solo’s. I use a tier method. Complete bottoms and large slots out of the sides. I’ve noticed having to tilt to get drainage out. So I just removed the bottom cup like when I transplant into my 3 gal fabric pots, and put directly into the larger pots. Fingers crossed I can shed this fungus that keeps claiming my babies

Yeah definitely sucks specially because so fragile at that stage and take the most time to get it going. I'd find the dryest spot use tap water to kill it chlorine should handle that. Hope she bounces back for you. Like someone above you can germ without covering sometimes that's works better good luck

RH% and T are OK,... yes, domes elevate "local" RH% a lot, but the lack of air circulation and some healthy drying out is what makes the fungal's thrive!... Just being that close to the moist soil does offer some proximity RH% boosting,.. I never use domes unless the RH% is really low, admittedly very rare for me,... My seedlings just get warmer than usual T's day/night and gentle air movement,...
The neem can burn if the solution is too strong... whatever the label says, reduce the amount by about half, and I highly recommend using a wetting agent (Coco-Wet is my fav') especially with neem.. it helps emulsify the oil much better! A mild soap like castile can be used as well, about 1tsp/qt..... this will help coat and stick better too! ...... Spray seedling and surrounding soil moderately, no need to soak it down,...
Those other inoculants may work too, but generally they're really more for the root support, nutrient breakdown/recycling, enzymes, etc,.....unlike the ones I mentioned which are "predatory" in part, on the fungal pathogens,... Some of them do have anti-fungal species in them though, you just have to compare listed microbes...
