New Grower what to do

thanks bipolar will stay away from time release and tks muddy i am planning on putting it in a closet in spare room was thinking garage but was concerened about temp seemed like a tent in closet would be easier than trying to transform the closet itself
and not a carpenter rather buy they dont seem to expensive on e-bay my only concern is the exhaust where to run

It wouldn't be too hard to transform the closet. About all you would need to do is paint the inside white or line it with mylar to reflect the light. If you use a light source like CFLs or LEDs that don't generate a lot of heat you can exhaust back into the house. HPS lights generate a lot for heat and often need to be vented outdoors or into an attic.

Forgot to mention you'll also need a carbon filter. The plants can get quite smelly when they get into full flower and a carbon filter hooked to the intake side of the exhaust fan will be 100% effective in removing the odors.

thanks again i thought the exhaust would be ok back into room and am planning on using led if only growing 3 plants at a time is 250w sufficient any suggestion on light or filter again thks picking brains on here helps in the decision process much appreciated

While not the top of the line, they are a very good value for the money. I'm using 3 of them in another space I have which is about 3.5' foot square. They cover about a 2' x 2.5' area, so would work well in a 2' square tent. For exhaust fan and carbon filter check these:

thanks again for the information really making the dicision process less complicated since i am limited on a 24 in space i think i have decide on the lighthouse 4x2x5 would like a taller maybe 6 but dont see any with a 24 width
that being said and using a 2x4x5 and using led not sure which one yet which would be best exhaust 4 or 6 in and will one 240 light be enough for that area with 3 plants at a time

If you could afford two of them, it'd be better of course. You'd also have the option to run 4 plants with 2.

Check this link out, the size of the fan as not as important as the amount of air it pushes. Check this site out http://cheaphydroponics.com/Merchant2/cfmcalc.htm it has a calculator to tell you how much CFM you'd need and then just make sure your fan pushes that much CFM.

It really wouldn't be hard to transform the closet like Muddy recommended and the money you save on the tent you can put towards the two lights.

thanks 1highman i have now got the tent 2x4x5 am i going to be able to have enough lite from one 240 led like the lighthouse blackstar i dont want to have to get two at this time if one will work for three plants maybe should have got a smaller tent but would rather be a bit big than to small and it seems like a 4in exhaust fan can move enough air
