What's up with these buds? These are from same grow but my other plants the buds were nice and tight but these are airy and have a lot of off shoots or foxtails.Never had this happen before.

Would like to know what causes foxtailing as well; been growing multiple strains side by side and every now and then I seem to get one that just tails out on me (right from the start) while the rest (different strains/genetics) grow tight compact buds. Is it a genetic trait? A defense mechanism of the plant? My first plant to COMPLETELY foxtail was a Diesel Ryder; the other one (most recent) was a Pyramid Anesthesia...

What have your temps been? I'm running abnormally high on my end; that's why I wondered if it was a stress response...

What strain is it nammy

This is a B.GUM that was started same time my other ones were with every thing identical but this one is taking forever to finish. My temps were lower than normal around 75f. She has nice try coverage so she should give a good smoke,at least I hope.

I remember my sword that was a purple jim. it was on my first grow here on AFN she was my first time in the Bom and she was the BOM! miss that plant!
elvis#.jpg nammy would not be surprised if she the strongest of the strain..

i call this the "grinspoon" effect!!

Hey nammy, I've had 2 plants do that foxtailing, Dinafem auto white widows, both. The smoke was excellent, but they took an "extra" 2 weeks to finish. I figured it was a genetic trait, as my environment wasn't out of spec. They may be odd looking, but they sure are photogenic!!

See that's funny; I've grown probably like... 10+ Dinafem AWW's and they are the most consistently dense, packed buds out of most strains I've grown so far  :dunno: My Diesel Ryder looked intense; it was just one MASSIVE fox tailed bud. It was good still good smoke (and sticky, ohhhh man,) but fluffy. Fluuuuuffy. I-could-have-had-a-gentle-nights-sleep-on-it-if-I-had-stuffed-a-pillow-case-with-it fluffy.

Trying to look at other forums and Google searches for answers on why it happens; lot of different theories. Where's Waira? I bet he knows. Waiiiira! :d5:

I think it can be genetic or environmental. Mi5 usually shows 3 phenos, the short one with little side branches, the taller one with multiple branches, and the one that always fox tails. I seldom see any fox tailing on other auto strains but my last two hydro grows I've had fox tails on both Barney's Pineapple Chunk and Female Seeds Lemon Kush. Those I believe were environmental. I was having issues, especially with the PC, with my temps getting too hot. I'd like to learn more about this myself so I can avoid it in the future if possible.

I don't think it's temp related seeing Muddy and SOH said there temps were a little high wear as my temps were a little lower than normal. It might be hard to get an answer and I don't no if Tony from DP or someone from Sweet Seeds would have a answer.I really think it's gene related but I;m not sure.
