Hi there,

So... the introduction is...
Vaporizers raise the temperature of the bud to 200 to 230 degrees celsius
so that the CBDA and THCA are decarboxylated and become the
active ingredients we all know and love: CBD & THC respectively.
And the important point is that the weed isn't _combusted_ it's vaporized.
Combustion would mean destruction of some portion of the CBD/THC.
Combustion would also mean the production of toxic breakdown products.

So that's the introduction and justification for using a vaporizer.
My questions are:
(a) What vaporizer are you using ?
(b) Would you recommend it ? and ....
(c) How much did it cost you ?

So far, i've been stunned by the shocking cost of the volcano thing.
And that "Crafty" device... both of which cost hundreds of dollars.

I like this thing i've seen on ebay: It's called Easy Vape, it has a
controllable, adjustable hot plate... with a nice digital temperature display:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Black-NEW-Easy-Vape-Digital-Vape-Hands-Free-Free-Whip/332379856050?_trkparms=aid=111001&algo=REC.SEED&ao=1&asc=20131017132637&meid=5e71cb0d55f148fd9d561dbe2e4d4c52&pid=100033&rk=4&rkt=8&sd=122659860864&_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042

And my final question is:
(d) What do you think of this Easy Vape device on ebay ?

Thank you to anyone that replies.
Thank you for your help and opinions :)

regards

Hello!

I have acquired several vaporizers over the years. I would recommend portable options since they have come long way and price is not too bad at all. Just the freedom of movement is very important thing that provides a lot of comfortability when it comes to vaping. I have some old stationary ones but honestly, they haven't seen use in years after the portable vapes hit the market.

To give direct answers to your questions:

a) Arizer Solo, Arizer Solo II, Arizer Air, Focusvape Pro, Focusvape Tourist.

b) Out of those I would recommend Focusvape Pro the best, if you are on a budget. It is an excellent convection vape that comes with superior bubbler. One of the smoothest and nices vapes I've ever tried. If you have a bit extra to spend, Focusvape Tourist is very good pick since it is both a vape and enail for your dabbing needs. It does very good job in both. Arizer Air is super stealthy unit for on the go situations, does everything fairly but not great. Solo is a classic work horse and it operates very reliable. Solo II was a letdown for me. Silly design, circuit board exposed right under the heating chamber for the flakes to drop on and stuff like that. I wouldn't recommend Solo II at all with the price it comes with.

c) I cannot remember clearly... Around 150e to 260e range I'd say. Focusvape Pro being cheapest while still being superior vape to others.

d) Honestly I think you'd be better off without it and investing in something else. If you are running low on money, save up. It's worth it.

Hope this helps bro

I've been using PAX for some time now...first the PAX 2 and now the PAX 3, couldn't be more happy. Superior design & portability, stealthy, and great for tasting cannabis, has different settings, etc.
There are other things you need to consider when buying a vape, for example, cleaning it! The PAX is sooo simple to clean compared to other vapes, it is a real pleasure to use.
It costs more than 300 bucks, but if you're not much into smoking concentrates, you'll do fine with a PAX 2, for less than that.

First and foremost a vaporizer is the healthiest way to ingest marijuana. Your pulmonary system will thank you. About 98% of the nasty carcinogens are killed off through a vaporizer. I have used the Herbalaire vaporizer for years. I also have a new one for backup. When mobile attending a concert etc, I use the Pax.

Thank you MedGrower,

This is exactly the kind of reply i was hoping for :)

I've been and had a close look at FocusVape Pro on ebay.
It looks very intriguing.

I hope you don't mind. I have some further questions:

(a) It has a "water bubbler" ... this makes me think of water bongs.
Where the vapors are pulled through water in order to cool the gases.
So i guess you need to put water into this device before using it. Is that correct ?

(b) The spec for this device notes that it's top temperature is 240 degrees C.
Is there anywhere on this device that displays the current temperature ?
Is there a readout that varies as the device gets hotter ?

(c) On many pipes and "vaporizers"... they are heated with a lighter
and lighters generally burn in the region of 1000 degrees F.
Consequently...It's so easy to burn your mouth and/or throat.
My question is: Do you occasionally burn yourself using this device ?

Thank you again for your help

Hi BushDktr,

Thanks for this recommendation.
I've been and had a look at the 'PAX' entries on ebay.
It's a device with a lot of accessories... especially cleaning accessories and 'odorfree' carry cases.
Which seems like a thoroughly good idea to me.

I have some questions about the PAX 2 device... I hope you don't mind me asking:
(1) does this device have a temperature display. I guess not but i just want to check.
(2) At first i thought this device would take heat from a lighter, but i notice that you can
buy a "recharging base unit" for it. So presumably it's electrically powered.
Is this device battery powered, or perhaps it plugs into a socket ??

Thanks for your help BushDktr :)

Hi AutoWonders,

Yes, vapes are the healthiest way of smoking cannabis.

In the past i've made space cakes, hash brownies & canna chocolate.
Because, i reasoned, (a) eating the bud would mean less destruction of the
bud than smoking (b) eating a hash brownie or a fairy cake with chocolate on
top, is very inconspicuous. There's only a faint chocolaty aroma.
There's no stink to alert police or 'officials'. So it's reassuringly stealthy.

I have usually used extra virgin olive oil, which disintegrates at 200 degrees C.
Which means i've had to make space cakes and hash brownies at 150 to 180 degrees C.

Only recently did i find out, about the process of decarboxylation of CBDA to CBD
and THCA to THC. I now realise, i should have used extra virgin coconut oil
and heated my cakes and brownies to 220 degrees C.
(oh well,... we live and learn,... i still got happily high :) )

My ad hoc suggestion is: maybe taking some edibles with you to your next
festival or concert, might be an interesting departure... (As well as being stealthy and safe.)
The only down side, of-course, is that you'll have to wait between 90 and 120
minutes for the full cannabis effect to arrive.

Thanks for your reply :)

Here is a video review of the unit that should be informative:

a) Yeah the unit comes with a optional water bubbler that can be mounted on top of it and with a right level of water it actually stays inside. It both cools and moisturizes the vaporized air and it is gentle. I personally have found the dry air from the vaporizers rather irritating to the throat and it tends to make me cough. Not with the bubbler.

b) This device has LCD display that shows the current temperature all the time along with controls to set the temperature at a degree scale.

c) Nope. It tends to warm up plenty from the top but nothing like burning. Just warm. I have never managed to burn myself using any vaporizers for that matter and I bet you really have to try to achieve that LOL :crying:

Hope that helps bro :toke:

No problem bro. I was impressed about how much of a quality unit it was for the price. If you deside to go with this one, let me give you a handy video to how to clean / maintain the unit. I do this weekly and it is actually quite fast way to keep your unit clean.
