DIY WWWillie and the Arduino - A tale of monitoring and controlling.

Update!
My breadboard kit arrived Saturday. I now have no official excuse for not starting work on this. I will clean a spot on my workbench at the office and get it setup there. Have an old PC I can use too. So stay tuned I should get started in a day or three.

Non uptate, update.
Looks like another week's gone by and nothing accomplished. Darned life keeps getting in the way!
Hope to do some stuff soon. Winter is coming and that is my favorite time for electronic DIY so I hope I can arrange some time for this!

Looks like the beginnings of a great thread Willie - high tech - I love it! Are you just going to monitor or are going throw in some control loops?

Hey!
Thanks man. Monitor first, then control. I am sure the monitoring will show how much control has been needed!! I can imagine as soon as I see a temp curve I'm going to start trying to figure out the best way to control it. Just like an itch that needs a good scratch, I can't leave it alone!!

Excellent work in this area bro! When I got into growing and saw those insanely overpriced all-in-one controllers, I knew that either the arduino or the raspberry pi was the solution if one could hack it together hehe :) Continue your efforts brotha! An open source diy room controller would really really be helpful for the entire cannabis community :)

Afterthought : I've actually been thinking in the back of my mind about going the raspberry pi route, as my linux and IT skills might be better than my zero arduino skills haha :p But I have no idea if a raspi can accept enough physical input/outputs to run to relays controlling enough things to be worth going that route. An arduino would tho fo sure :)

I'm subbed! Can't wait to see what you come up with.:peace:

I've been thinking about this too wwwillie, so subbed and can't wait to get into this when someone else is doing it as it'll save the wife and kids having to put up with a million pc parts lying around when I go off on one of my Heath Robinson type invention conquests!

Anthropolis, re the Raspbery Pi: I'm pretty sure you can link as many of them as you need, at least you can for coin mining so that might work to get extra input/outputs.

I got to see this. Still amazed at how far growing has come from the 60-70s - chuck a few seeds in the ground and come back in a few weeks and see if anything is growing. lol

Wow!
Lets try this again! I wiped out an entire multiple paragraph post a while back! New laptop touchscreen sensitive touchpad windows 8 bull shite!! I was pissed to say the least.

So, ya this stuff is a gas that's for sure! Winter is a good time for this stuff too, to cold to work outside!!

Raspberry Pi is the coolest widget, I have 5 at last count. Three connected to my TV sets, I use RasPlex and a Plex server, on for a music player using Rune and a DIY DAC and I still have one of the original B models doing not much. I am fairly sure there are plenty of MIO boards out that will bolt right on it.
What would be way cool is Arduino based sensors and controllers tied together with a Pi, via wireless!! WooHoo, got my propeller spinning now!
