Completed RQS Fruit Spirit Photoperiod

Hey folks!
I have a bit more time on my hands to take of my plants, so I'll get a couple of photoperiods going. A mix of blueberry and white widow, it was apparently bred by RQS in partnership with an musical artist whose name I completely forgot. Despite being Indica dominant, it is supposed to motivate your creativity and will to create.

Still on the Mars Hydro TS1000 dimable, with a Mars Hydro 2x2 tent
Two small 8in fans
Small fan heater (that I'd like to use as little as possible)
Dehumidifier 200w 10L/day
Biobizz all mix + perlite
Step up to the 7gal DIY plastic pot with holes
Might add a bit of RQS Easy Boost granules in the soil after transplant
Mini AC unit 7000BTU
Couple of hygrometers

No carbon filters, vents, or anything else...

Week 1 - Seedling Stage

Here we go again, it's the moment when you plan and get to action, and nature laughs and give you the usual challenges. (It's indoors, you're in control, they said.. well yeah but..)

The cam of my phone is starting to do strange things again, it must be the worst I ever had. Really time to invest in a little camera. Sorry for the blurs
IMG_20240315_1551171.jpg

Things starting pretty good, with good size seedlings, one dominant. Tried to push up the temps and RH without extremes, but the outdoor weather seems just about right for a 24C/65%RH average indoors so I won't push it. Watered them twice by spraying the soil until a drop came out the bottom, second time today.
Lights are at about 18in and on 35% power. So it's a little bit higher thant the last F1s that are still curing btw.

Week 2 - Seedling Stage

Hey chaps! The weather has been pretty good and allowed me to keep the environment humid and warm. Needed a wet towel to make it sweet enough though. (AVG 24C/70%)
Leaves are getting pretty thick and luscious so I'm happy. I'll top them a couple hours before lights out today and will repot the left one as soon as it's recovered, as it's obviously the strongest one.

Week 3 - Vegetative Stage

Hey ho.. So it's been a busy week. Started by raising the intenstity of the lamp to 50%, then topped the left one an hour before lights out on the 23rd. Repotted on the 26th a couple hours before lights out (will defo do another repot to the final pot very soon) adjusted the lights to about 17/18 inches above the canopy
Let it recover, then raised intensity to 75% and started LST. One wire around the base to hold, and another grabbing the biggest fan leave on the opposite side. Hopefully, the lower branches will shoot up. Tried to stick around 25C and 70%RH, last pic taken just after watering in the morning, couple hours after lights on.

Week 4 - Vegetative Stage

Hellodelidoo.. So as a reminder I'm faaar from being a pro, and even less with photoperiods (I have to keep reminding myself that time is on my side) and I decided to start LST before the last repotting. Firstly because I had not yet reminded myself that I had time hehe, and consequently secondly, I needed it to take the shape I wanted it to take before growing further. Hooked up the second fan.

I left it to dry for a couple days and repotted it with 20g of Easyboost in pellets. (By the way, I think it's not a 5gal, but rather a 7gal pot my my..) As my last repotted plant took the process pretty badly, I did not want to water it too much after repot to stress it too much (forgetting again I'm not working with an auto) and in the end went the other way and let it dry too much. I ended up taking 3 hours to water it properly until run off for the first time, juste to make sure I left no dry pockets of soil.

Let it recover, then started a proper LST (I probably could've left this one for later too, as some of the branches don't reach the edge yet) Chopped a few annoying fan leaves, but I'm a bit scared to lollipop now, or if I will even do it.
I realize now I made the mistake to top it too early wanting less but bigger buds. In the end, maybe I should have topped it one node later and chopped the lower ones.

Little one is suffering at the back so I will switch it to flower quickly.

Kept temps and RH at avg 24.5C / 66%

Week 5 - Vegetative Stage

Everything seems to be going according to plan, except the first node branches that are struggling to keep up. A little bit of adjusting the LST, adjusting the lights heights, and play with the humidity according to the temps we get here. A mini heatwave is on the way, so I'll raise up the humididty a bit. Anyways, I got time and a bit of space.
Had a big ol' scare a few days after the first watering: lifted slightly the pot to check if there was still any excess of water and found that a big ol' root had come out of the pot, sparkling white and healthy. My brain could not fathom this possibility, and therefore, stupidly, I grabbed it and pulled (snap!) Then it hit me. 😢

Aw well, shiz happens, and I ain't working with an auto here, gotta remember that. So I stuck to the easiest way to get a rough average of 24C/65%RH, which is let the temprature decide and adjust the RH.

Did a big defoliation/lollipopping on the last day to maximise efforts on the edges...
Til' next week!

Week 6 & 7 - Vegetative Stage

Hi guys! It's been a busy couple of weeks with the visit of family and loads of people in the house so I didn't really have time to update the blog until now. I'll keep this one up to last friday, so not too long ago.

Otherwise, nothing much to report, except the ol' fight against nature... A lot of folding, the occasional defoliating (for it to regrow even fluffier haha). The temps have been really nice and steady and just started to go down a bit. Nothing I can't handle. (It might even help me switch to flower very soon if it stays that way, but I'm stuck with the chillies indoors)

Its green looks a bit lighter than some other pictures, but it's surely due to the amount of new growth.

Took the wet towels out after the last watering and gonna use the ambient humidity that will get down around 55-60% RH. Counting on switching the light cycle to 12/12 as soon as next week.. The plant looks strong enough to get a massive stretch and grow big buds :headbang:

I also LST'd up some of the secondary branches that were thick as a r'n'b babe's thigh.. mad... and regularly tightened the old wires, readjusting with the growth of the repective primary branches.

Little game for viewers: find the thermo/hygrometer on the main picture

Soon come flowering of the fruit spirit (sound of angels singing )

Week 8 - Vegetative Stage

Hello, hello.. still a bit late on my updates but hear I am. (Sorry for the thousands who wait patiently for each new updates every week :rolleyes1: hehe)

Temps and RH have both gone down lately, which is a bit surprising for this time of the year, but well, it becomes less and less surprising every year. At least, ain't to bad for my baby, as we are coming up to switch time very soon. I even spotted a pistil on the 30/04, and can't deny nature's call to reproduce. Switch to 12/12 on the 03/05.

Watering 'til run off, I did not realize that the holes at the bottom are blocked and ended up watering it 8 litres before I noticed something was wrong (I wasn't paying attention) but well, only a few roots suffered (as you can see only certain leaves will drop) It recovered in a couple of days anyway.

Still the odd readjusting of the LST and a quick haircut..
IMG_20240503_1553461.jpg

Week 9 - Flowering Stage

Well, it kinda started a bit slowly, after lowering temps to about 22C and RH at 50% and switching the light cycle to 12/12. Only now the pistils start to come out of the budsites, maybe a blowback of the slight overwatering I did last week.

Been attacked by a couple of mini heatwaves, so the in the last days the temps have been difficult to keep under 24C, and I had to get the wet towel out again.

I think she'd deserve a little haircut but I'm always scared to piss her off during the stretch.. Oh well, just a few that crowd the area and cover budsites (looks reallly light green on the picture but it's really exagerated compared to the real stuff
IMG_20240510_0706221.jpg

Week 10 - Flowering Stage

Alright chaps, it's proper flowering now. Temps and RH have been average, a bit hard to play with as lowering RH with my dehumidifier would also increase temps which I do not want. So I've done with 23C / 53%RH average. She started drinking at a little bit less than double the rate of before the switch.

However, I made a big mistake by lollypopping an evening I was pretty pissed off, as I had enough of the jungle inside (too many slim secondary branches). I must have passed some bad vibes coz it feels like it was proper stressed by it and for a few days. Really, really not a good idea touching plants in a bad mood.

Anyways, now it's gonna be the waiting game, check RH and temps, and watering appropriately for two months approx.

Week 11 - Flowering Stage

Well it's been a bit of hard week for everybody.. I've been ill, and my plant has been showing symptoms of not being very well either. Went by the infirmary, and it seems it is just a case of massive hunger. Let's it's the case. (https://www.autoflower.org/threads/issues-during-stretching.91779/#post-2927281) thanks @Lil Dab @MoparMad @Frankthetank
As it's watering day tomorrow anyway, I've added 25g of Easyboost pellets (grounded this time) as top feed, scratching the top layer of soil without hurting the roots (yeah, I felt one as high as an inch down)

Temps are going back up, so I plugged in the AC, and RH sticks to 47/50% RH

Let's see how the week-end goes
IMG_20240524_1552221.jpg

Week 12 - Flowering Stage

This has been a very slow week, as the 25g of grounded pellets top feed did not seem to hit the spot. It's the second time I attempt to solve a deficiency issue with these pellets and the result is very slim, barely slowing down the old leaves' "crumbling".
So I'm gonna do something new to me, which is adding liquid nutes 😱 so scared

I bought some Biobizz Bio Bloom (might as well get the same brand as my soil) and will start with 2ml per litre, nice and easy, as advised for an early flowering feeding, with this morning watering, We'll see the results on week 13. Hopefully, that'll hit the spot and the buds start getting bigger :stir:
Temps are rising, and as I can't keep the AC on all night, I end up with warmer nights that I'd like to have (23-24C with 70 to 80% RH) high RH at night does not bother me too much as I have good airflow, but I hope the high temps won't affect growth.

IMG_20240531_1625341.jpg

Week 13 & 14 - Flowering Stage

Well, it's been a pretty slow two weeks, and a slow bud growth, even after the feeds. The good news is that the yellowing of leaves has generally slowed down and new growth is greener. A good bunch of pistils is already browning, and a good bit of tricomes has appeared. Still, I'd like my buds to fatten some more.

Temps have been more clement at night, but humidity is quite heavy for flowering with peaks at 58%. So I let it get a little warmer and ensure good airflow.

One more thing. A couple of days ago, I tilted the pot to check its weight without busting my back, and an army of what I imagine were tiny gnats came out running, some of them attempting to fly without much success. I cleaned the bottom of the pot with a tissue as well as the plate and the same this morning, all of that in panic before thinking of taking a picture. I'll do that tomoz if same happens. Something to hold up the pot a couple of inches above the floor would help but I have nothing that will hold that heavy a pot when fully watered.

(Strangely, my phone camera seems to have switched modes, as the colors seems more faded now...weird)

Week 15 & 16 - Flowering Stage

Howdy!
Reaching the end of documented flowering time, with maybe a couple of weeks to spare, but let's leave the plant tell me when it'll be ready. I really badly calculated that as I thought I'd be chopping down before going on holidays, and unfortunately I'm leaving on Wednesday. Hope my flatmate will be careful  (I'm gonna see my nephew who's pushing some F1s outdoors can't wait :pop:
Lately, we've had some crappy weather, warm and humid, the worst thing to deal with my actual tools. But well, I manage to keep all that in the 25C / 55%RH range with good airflow. (I think I caught RH flirting with the 90's at night, can't wait to get my bills of the month)
I upped feeding to 4mL/L then to 5ml/L, seing that bud growth has been pretty slow. Full watering about once a week. Funny enough, her little sister at the back is fattening up faster... The gnats problem disapear by itself, probably due to a moment of slight overwatering. Still quite a few of the small fan leaves are surviving, with a few dropping occasionnally.
Trics are still transparent for the most part, and I keep seeing new bits and bobs and new white pistils coming up. We're definitely in late flowering. Really hope that last push of growth will fatten my buds a bit as even if there are loads of them, they're not bigguns.
Stinks of them tangy sweets/candy, and quite citrus too.
See yous in 2 weeks with I hope some great news!

Week 17, 18 & 19 - Flowering Stage

Hey peeps! Back from holidays.. my mate took good care of my plant, as I can see the buds thickened a bit without any crazy magicly ten fold growth, but anyways. Loads of leaves fell off or went brown so I put them into plastic sealed bags and in the freezer for hash later...

I've seen an abundance of white tricomes, with stil a few cloudy and one or two transparent (and a few brown ones) so I'll chop that as soon as practiclably doable.

My body's fed the plant once the usual recipe of 5ml/l of biobizz BioBloom. I think it's ready to chop as per tricomes, so i'll get on it asap...

See you next time for chop up! (the small one already went up to dry)

Week 20 - Chop down

Well, it stinks. It stinks very much of lemon mixed with some other fruit, maybe tangerine, some kind of very sweet citrus, like the hard sweets that were left in the bag to last because the berry fruits were the best.

So I chopped down one day after my last post, and did only a very slight trim before hanging three clothe hangers of branches. It's been sitting in the tent with unfortunately pretty high temps (24 - 26C) due to this bloody neverending heatwave... At least I managed to keep the RH between 57 and 62% in order to guarantee a slow drying. Couldn't stop myself nipping a tiny bud for tasting, and there is already a very decent taste, and a bit of high.

I'll have to wait a bit more to test the creative vibe of the plant, but I'm pretty chuffed about this so far:smokeit:

Bud Tasting

It always takes me a while to really take in the taste of the weed, and it's now been curing almost a month. I've been puffing it for two weeks and the taste and high just keeps improving.

And as it's really the first time I have a very decent bud to smoke, I thought I'd add a Bud Tasting page to complete the entry.

This morning, I attacked the second jar that had been closed since beginning of the month at approx 63% RH, filled up my mini jar and rolled up one. That's when the white widow hit me. I haven't smoked a proper white widow since I was 17 and the particular taste hit me with a nostalgia. Then the fruity flavour came out. Then a bit more of that taste of white widow just in case you forgot. (don't ask me the dominant terpene, I couldn't tell)

And I got sofa blasted... Comparing to the 20% avg hash that goes around here, I wasn't very far from that.

As for the artistic/creative push it is supposed to give, I did not really have the opportunity to test yet.

Now I need to make more to last more and longer so it gets even better gnark

Hey! Forgot to mention the light schedule: 16/8 that I will switch to 12/12 for flowering.. And still wondering if I'll repot only once or twice. For now I'm thinking twice.. Any thoughts?

Weigh in -> 62g + trim
Short of what I expected but still my best so far. Smells very fruity, and a bit piny/herbal. Can't wait for it to be "mature" enough to smoke
