Completed RQS Orion F1

IMG_20231017_1910481.jpg
Hello peeps! Another good season stars for me with temps and humidity with which I can work with better than during summer. After a couple of heights tests, I decided to start straight from the pot with the latest seeds from RQS. I won't get into the whole genetics ting, but I'll simply get my hands dirty and get into it.

I'm also a bit late on this blog as the plants are already in a good stage, but I was blocked and could not create a new blog because of an error message that ended up being a simple problem with my pic.. (duuh)

So keep it simple, take the same as last season and do it again...
Biobizz allmix + 30g of RQS Easyboost granules
Last attempt with a 3 gal fabric pot before to switch back to my basic plastics pots

Day 3 - Seedling Stage

Watered the pot fully before sowing. Temps were still pretty high and humidity low, but by closing the tent, the pot full of water was enough to raise the humidity to about 60% during the day..

Sprouted on 17/10

Week 2 - Seedling Stage

Started banging, don't know if I'm getting better at it or if it's the F1 effect, or a bit of both.. anyways.. I forgot to weigh the pot at the beginning and it's been a while I've felt pots, so it's gonna be a mix of balance, wet fingerz and watch the leaves to know when to give the first water. In the end I think I done it too early seeing one morning that baby girl was seriously droopy. In the end I think we got caught by an early first cold night of the year that caused it... She did not enjoy too much the first watering..

Eh.. we'll see (well I've seen already hehe sorry)

Week 3 - Vegetative Stage (but really quick then)

I was busy trying to find out why it seemed to grow slowly, which is by then I gathered I watered it too early, when I saw.. pistils. Already.. Must have stressed her. Still, what kind of stress is violent enough to make her show pistils on day 17, but not violent enough stress to stunt her miserably? Every time I think I finally get it, well.. gnarf lol

Well she's kind of tiny.. hope she will stretch a bit during the transtion.. :eyebrows:

Week 4 - Flowering Stage

Little shorty goes along.. Seems a little smaller thant the usual autos I remember, but well my memory has a tendency to play jokes.. Stretched a bit, I gues Flowering started

Week 5 - Flowering Stage

Ok weird, I chopped a few leaves, not too much (ain't many anyways) and in a week the shade of green darkened like I was getting a nitro toxicity. Plus the leaves seem to grow thinner... With the nutes being in the soil, ain't much I can do, and anyways the buds are growing. I guess when I chopped the leaves I limited where the food could be spent and created a toxicity.. Yeah I think too much, but ain't it what we do lol and I don't see why it would shows signs of toxicity that late except for that reasons..

Anyways, this is going pretty fast

Week 7 - Flowering Stage

Seems to be blooming nicely.. Temps are fresh but not too cold, around 24 average and 52%RH. I started to search a bit about VPD and realized that there are a lot of things I do not understand. So I'll get myself a little book of horticulture basics in order to satisfy my obsessive and slighlty compulsive of knowing everything about the subject. (Don't worry, I don't have OCD, or if I do, my laziness does miracles to reduce the symptoms. But I can't take it anymore, I love growing too much to leave anything to chance)

In the meantime, I'll get a IR thermometer to check the leaves temps, and try to stick to my chart..

Week 8 - Flowering Stage

Hey ho..
Well leaves are still dark and got floppier, but the buds are growing very nicely. Hopefully I'll get something decent to enjoy this time, finally...

Week 9 - Flowering Stage

Ok, this is getting very interesting. It did not stretch very much, but the buds are getting frosty and dense. (We can see my mini chilli peppers drying in the background hmm!)

She's starting to get some lovely shades of pink.. these plants are seriously beautiful 😍

Week 11 - Flowering Stage

Hello peeps!
The shades of pink are getting more vibrant and really pretty.. Still budding nice but less quickly now, she finished the main bulk and starts on the rest I guess. A shame I messed up the watering at the beginning, otherwise I would have had a serious mother to take bits from.. but well, I don't really intend to use clones atm, still have way too many seeds to sow hehe

Week 12 - Flowering Stage

Ok we officially passed the deadline, but the tricomes are not to my taste yet and there are still quite a few leaves left so I'll do a last watering and leave it for week before chop off.. smelling dank and fruity hmm..

Week 13 - Chop Down

Timbeeer!!!.. sorry

Alright so I'm about 90/95 days in and the tricomes look good enough to my taste with a slight bit of brown showing while the rest is white and cloudy (Still a few transparent tho)
20 days more than advertized but as any experienced grower knows, it's not that often that you harvest on the day that it says on the tin..

See yous in 2 weeks!

Dry and cure

Well, it's always the same song like the french say.. Towards the middle of the flowering stage, I seem to forget all the trouble that the plant might have been through and I see myself still hoping for a big ol' harvest. But it's when the bud hit the scale that reality comes back with a slap in my face hahaha -> 1oz plus 5g of trim approx. Once I even let a plant stretch up to a almost 4 feet after I had topped it, and later realized that I completely forgot to LST it.. I'm not really that forgetful, but I seem to get hyptnotized by the growth. Well, I'm a little bit more careful now anyways..

Left it to dry a tad too much. 14 days with quite a bit of fluctuation of temps and RH. Stuck at 58% in the jar, so I added a little platic bag with a bit of wet cotton, and back to 62% (after a few attempts of varied amounts of cotton) Before drying I did a rough wet-trim.

And obviously, I took a quick pic before starting the dry trim, and forgot to take pics of the buds, so focus was I on getting them buds in the jar as quick as possible.. I'll take a few more pics once they ready to puff

Hey lovely jubs.. I just realized I didn't give any details about the RH and temps I worked with during that grow.. My environment stayed pretty stable between 50 and 58% (although some of my pics can show different, as pics were taken with the tent doors open) temps stayed around 23 and 26. I only started to use seriously a VPD chart towards the second part of flowering, once the main bulk of buds is in place..

Lately the temps dropped a bit, so I had to drop the RH too according to my RVPD. (22/23C and 49-52% RH) I don't have a IR thermometer yet so I won't start going into numerous plant temp mesuring haha I juste assume (and hope) that the average of the leaves are about 1 degree C lower than the tent average temp. It's all guesstimate anyways as the temps and RH are not exactly the same at different places in the tent...

Awesome seeing how this Beauty grows just found mine N post alongside other cultivars I'll post results now found site lovely Girl Enjoy Gromie 🇬🇧💚🌱💯🔥😉👊☮️

Right, so after 2 months or so curing in glass jars 3/4 full at about 62% RH down to 58% in the last few weeks, the smell is not that strong and the taste is still a bit harsh, so I'm well gutted. Must've dried it to fast.
Still, gives a good little high, slightly uplifting, with a taste of pine, and a bit of lemon and pepper (my son cares to disagree on the last two)
Might give it another try in the future
