I have been looking for some replacement bulbs and see all kinds--what is difference in a regular 400 watt and a super 400 watt hps.also what is needed to run the combo bulbs?i need something from start to finish on autos---price is not a concern--I want the besti do not have a digital ballast!!!would a digital ballast do a better job? all input would be appreciated ! thanks also in a 2x4x5 foot tent would a 400 hps in the center and a 150 hps on each side do better than 1 600 hps in the middle?

is a digital ballast needed for the super blbs?

They say a digital ballst is better LittleT. I would love to have an HPS light setup I have been trying to find a used one (cant afford a new one right now) Good luck hope you find one. Not sure if its true but I heard you can use a MH bulb in a HPS setup but cant use HPS in Mh not sure if this is true but someone here will know

I prefer the sun however I have 3 150 watt hps setups in boxes waiting on a small greenhouse I bought for early and late veg garden --I use the 400 at present but bulb is 13 months old---24/0 schedule---like I said im an outdoor grower if possible---hard to break old habits----just want a good backup

Hortilux can be used with Magnetic and Digital ballasts.. it started off that they weren't compatible with Digital Ballasts and you had to use Digilux bulbs instead - now Hortilux bulbs can be used with both digital and magnetic ballasts. Digilux is still digital only!

CMH bulbs can be used in magnetic HPS systems.. that's the only worthwhile bulb exchange I know of.

As well Hortilux and Digilux bulbs have a fuller spectrum.. that's why they're better, your plants get enhanced wavelengths of light. It's funny this post is here, I was just considering looking up some bulbs for my 600W that looks like it's not up to the task anymore.

Sweet LittleT what kind 150watt setup did you get and wher?

FLORALUX 150w HPS Mini Grow Light-----cheap but works great--18 months ago I grew 22 -gems under 1 lamp they did very good!!!

Thanks bro hell I use 100watt MH right now and it does the job so I know 150watt HPS would be alot better
