Grow Mediums 5gal DWC Cream Mandarine 400watt tent grow

Is it not a little too early to be switching nutes?

Mine are 22 days old and they are filling like crazy.. As soon as you change are you not stopping vertical growth and therefore inhibiting potential yield?

(I am a newbie only going off what I have read :))

Lovely looking ladies though!!!

Changing nutes doesn't stop vertical growth........in fact when plants START to flower you can expect them to at least double in size by the time they are done...changing to the bloom nutes on day 25 when it has begun flowering seems logical...some people wait until day 30 or 35 depending on the strain....this particular strain seems to like the switch this "early"...my problem lies with the "hanging the light too close to the plants" rookie mistake!....LOL....anyhow...remember...vertical growth is controlled by genetics and environment.....nutes are just helping those 2 factors create the "perfect" balance.......good luck on your grow...you have a journal started?......:dance2::smoke:

You need to get a good stretch bro before you change to bloom nutes or you may have shorter plants. :2cents:

Day 30 pic update.............

ok....30 days into the grow and things are going as good as I can hope for. Both plants flowering and #1 has REALLY stretched(no noticeable difference by switching nutes early).#2 Is stretching but is more of a dwarf. The next 30 to 40 days should be AWESOME!!!!............feel free to comment or ask questions.......

Things going good....CM#1 is still stretching but seems to be slowing........#2 is starting to stretch a bit more but is going to be a small plant.......its approx day 35 for CM#1 and it should start packing on the weight in the next couple weeks...I plan on letting them go for at least 70 days....maybe longer as I appreciate a couch lock stone............................will post current pics later tonight........Anyone with comments or questions please feel free to chime in anytime!!!!.........:tiphat::coffee2:

man, your hydro plants are killin' my organic soil plants in terms of size/day. i have gotten a few compliments on my earthy tastes/aromas, but those hydro yields... damn!
your plants are so branchy

...i've got several 5 gal buckets laying around, maybe i should make a DIY DWC or 2 in the future...

Hello Koz!...thanks for stopping in!..I would completely recommend DWC.....its truly like night and day difference!...also...with the advancements in nutrients and plant nutrition, its much easier (and affordable) to go completely organic with DWC, which would give you that (soil grown) taste........thanks for the post Koz.....:tiphat:

Glad to see you SouthSyder!.....my biggest problem is going to be getting the smaller indica plant enough light!....I have total opposite phenos!...one is growing like a pure indica...the other is growing like I have some sort of landrace sativa!.....the sativa pheno has super skinny long leaves........the indica pheno, broad wide leaves...............this evening, the misses and I are going to do some LST to the big sativa to get some light to the indica pheno.......will be posting pics later today! Thanks for stoppin in!:tiphat:

Pic update---approx day 36

pics from Dec 22........closeups are of the sativa pheno buds......:thumbs:

......alright everyone....here are my thoughts on switching nutes later rather than sooner.........I stand by my original statement......Both of these plants started getting bloom nutes on day 25.(also switched to sodium same time). The genetics seem to determine the height of the plant.I have an indica pheno and a sativa pheno and both have stretched as much as anyone might need(IMO)......I am not a newb to growing and can base my statement on 100's of plants...including quite a few auto's.......so I know that many are gonna disagree with me but it is what it is.......I stand by my statement.........................................Changing nutes doesn't stop vertical growth........in fact when plants START to flower you can expect them to at least double in size by the time they are done...changing to the bloom nutes on day 25 when it has begun flowering seems logical...some people wait until day 30 or 35 depending on the strain....this particular strain seems to like the switch this "early"...my problem lies with the "hanging the light too close to the plants" rookie mistake!....LOL....anyhow...remember...vertical growth is controlled by genetics and environment.....nutes are just helping those 2 factors create the "perfect" balance.

Please feel free to post rebuttals and disagree......I do enjoy discussing the POTential of cannabis........would love to see and hear from those that have had different results..............Thanks Everyone!!!......"Stirring":tiphat:
