when i start to see flowers forming, i like to start alternating feedings between Grow and Bloom nutes for a couple/few weeks, until the vertical growth stops, then just Bloom nutes. this seems to help me keep the plants greener in later stages of growth. but i grow organic in soil (with General Organic liquid nutrients), and not hydro, so there is usually still some nutrients hanging out in the soil for the plant to take whatever it wants.
when i do photo plants, i will usually switch to Bloom nutes right when i flip to 12/12. unless i see some premature yellowing, or a deficiency or something, then i might give a dose of Grow or a mixture of Grow and Bloom.
but, i've only been growing for a few years. i'm still learning and modifying my style, experimenting a little bit here and there to see what works.
in my opinion, there really is no "wrong" way, as long as you get quality buds at the end! some methods may work better than others, but to each their own.
i've even done seed to harvest with just cheap all-purpose 10-15-10 plant food, when i had no money for better products. it probably wasn't ideal, but i got some decent home-grown out of it! still cost me less per gram than if i had to buy it from someone else.
...just my "My 2 cents"
