Hi micro growers. I've been enjoying everyone threads! I thought it would only be right to share mine...
I live in a legal state, but I like my privacy of a small odder less micro grow. Home grown meds beats any at the dispensary. I've grown a few micros now, and found it not only to be a great hobbe, but a good way to produce my own medicine that I know exactly what's in it. This is a new box I've built. I was trying to build a box that uses as little electric as possible. I'm hoping for good things to share with you guys. Feel free to ask questions, or school me if doing something wrong. Here are the specs..
Lights:
216 watt ufo no name. 65 actual watts.
42 watt cfl warm color. Really there just to add some heat to box.
Ventilation:
65 cfm bathroom exhaust fan hooked to 4" carbon filter, with passive intakes.
Mini fan for air circulation.
Strains:
Cbd somango
Cbd sinsi star
Grand daddy purple. Late start, had to replace a remedy seed that pop up deformed.
Auto blueberry

A little update. The girls have been putting on some good growth this week. Gdp is trying to catch up, working on second set of leaves. The blueberry and mango are cruising along nicely. The sinsi star is going to be a beast. I've already topped her, and I see some serious hog tying/LST in my future with her.

Ug! Found some fungus gnats today. I've been so lucky past 2 bags of potting mix with no gnats.
My luck ran out this last bag. Just saw 4 of those little buggers. Ran down to hardware store and got yellow sticky cards. Can't decide what to do about soil treatment yet? I think I'm going to bake soil from now on. What do you guys think?

Hey, sorry to hear that, I went through it very recently myself so I feel your pain. The sticky pads did the trick for me. I went from seeing dozens everyday to maybe one every few days.
Baking your soil in thin layers should do it but it will also nuke the beneficial life in your soil. If you have a lot of them, it might be the best solution. If you only have a few, inoculating your soil with a product that contains Bacillus thuringiensis as well as covering your soil with sand or perlite might suffice.
Good luck, mate.

Thanks Jdoe, I just looked into the bacillus. Looks to be good stuff. Just ordered some. If it works I'm going to mix it in all my soils from now on as a preventative.

So, this grow has almost been a colossal fail. To start I think I got a bad bag of OG potting mix. Even came with free fungus gnats. Got rid of those fairly easy with the mosquito bits, but I think main problem was it wasn't mixed properly or something. It was way muddier than normal. I have used this brand in the past with good success, but I only had enough for one pot of the old stuff so I bought more. I filled one with old stuff, and 3 with new. Well the 3 I filled with new. The growth was unusually slow from the start. The one with old mix grew normal. The sinsi star. I also think the 65 watt may have been a little strong for the distance I had. So I switched to a 50 watt 150 ufo like spaghetti has. The good news is the sinsi star is doing great, and starting to flower. I started a few new seeds also. I'm using roots organic with the new seeds. It's amazing how much of a downer it can be when things don't grow right. Well, on to new starts..... Will post some new pic soon.
See the discoloration.

That topped bad boy will give you some killer buds man. I guess the saying goes, you just gotta keep on keepin' on. How much did you pay for the light? Just curious because mine came as a kit.

Thanks spaghetti, I'm looking forward to seeing how that sinsi star turns out. Looks like I'm going to have to build a odder free drying box for her. I normally dry in the grow box, but looks like it will be a staggered grow. The light I got from ebay for 35 bucks. So far it seems pretty good.
