Grow Mediums Alien Pro RDWC 8 Pot System ** Help Needed ASAP **

I'd say that's more than enough bubbles. That submersion shot was badass, man.

That is very low base water indeed. Is it well water? That to me suggests it does not contain usual public water treatment of chloride (mainly), cal and mag potassium and trace elements. Good tap water is very low at 0.25.

If so, that means two things. Bacteria are certainly present (no chloride) and pH will swing madly because the water is not buffered. Air is certainly more than enough, probably helping loads as it is. Use this recipe to "diagnose", you're not in emergency mode. And adding lots of stuff the pH is going bananas... :yoinks:

Dump the rez and fill it up. Add 2ml/L of liquid silicon, let it mix extremely well, 2 or 3 hours. pH should skyrocket. The add Cal Mag and let mix another hour or two. If Canna mono nutes, add first cal let mix very well, then mag. Depending on the brand, pH may drop a little, but still high. Slowly add pH(-) until 5.6 - 5.8, don't be picky. You want the final EC at around 0.3/0.4.
This will pH buffer the solution and give a good base feed.

Next day, pH may rise, even to 6.1+ Oxygen from the stones raises pH. The more air, more oxygen. But it will be a stable value.
Add part A, let it mix well, 1h
part B, 1h.
4ml Cannazym, same drill, same drill, 1h ... I know its a hassle, but you've got 8x 55L = 440L to mix well
2ml Rhizotonic (again pH will rise), and let it go loads.

A few hours later check on the pH and correct it back down very slowly until 5.6 - 5.8. In theory, this should do it, and the roots will love it. You've got plenty of bubbles to add to the party. h202 did nothing for me to be honest, and since brewing my own beneficial bacterial I've never looked at chemicals. I would save the hygrozyme as a last defense in case of a serious outbreak.

And take it from there, keep posting and we'll figure the next step.

Awesome cheers groff, so it looks like I should go buy some cannazym and rhizotonic... Or should I use roots excel instead of rhizo ? I think the full system uses 350-380 to the bottom of the netpot :)

Also do you mean 4ml a litre of cannazyme and 2ml a litre of rhizo ? If so that's a lot of nutes lol

Cannazyme is not a nute, nor is rhizo. Essencially, cannazyme are enzymes. They work on the root zone, by digesting organic matter into soluble form, and feed the bacteria. There are 2 type of the, the good bacteria (aerobic, oxygen loving), and the bad ones (anaerobic, slime producing bastards). These two fight each other and whoever wins, wins. So we need to promote the good guys, and oxygen helps that. Rhizotonic is a root stimulant with hormones and vitamins and triacontanol etc. Never used roots excel, but reputation preceeds them.

Moral of the story, you don't have enzyme in your setup. Roots excel is a root stim and has a great rep, but the odd story of horror. I don't think its the roots excel, but I did a quick search and found a very similar story.

We have no idea whats really going on. Could be a mere coincidence. But just in case, skip on the roots excel for now.

Definitely buy cannazyme, and buy some powdered beneficial bacteria. They're readily available in agro-horticulture shops, grow shops have them too but they're usually silly expensive. If you massively increase the good bacteria count, the anaerobic bacteria loose the battle.

I'n not really worried by the pics, more the base water. Have you grown before with it in hydro? If it's well-water, it's either heaven or hell.

No it's not well water buddy its treated water and has lots of chlorine in it that's why I let it bubble away for 24hrs. Some of the best water in the UK tbh but not for growing in hydro it seems. I need a cal mag substitute and I use plant magic calmag.

What is the powdered beneficial bacteria called?

regarding the water, if that is the case, then that drastically reduces the potential problem. About the bacteria, there are tons of products out there. Many combinations too. All are excellent, can't really go wrong. There are thousands of species of bacillus, and they all pretty much work the same, as longs as you have a great diversity of them. Some products add mycorrizhae (fungi) as they work perfect together. Here are some quick search finds

Anything that has a long list of bacillus is pretty much perfect. Usually, the lesser fancy label, the better the deal. I bought 50g about a year and a half ago and I still have about half, but I brew my own tea, so I multiply them 1000x fold :smoking:

About what to buy, I'm trying not to break your bank, I know stuff is expensive, especially on an 8 pot pro. Ideally, I would def use Cannazym, rhizotonic and bacteria. None of these are nutes and work together fantastically. They're some of the missing ingredients from soil.
