It is great to be here. I don't want to say I am a complete beginner, I have had a few successful grows but due to circumstances beyond my control it's been almost a year since my last grow. I have 20 Auto seeds 10 barney's farm LSD and 10 AK 48s that I plan on putting outside now that the weather is starting to get warm.
I am building a small structure outside just to keep the rain off them. I live in a rainforest so it rains ALOT..
So here is my question. After the seeds sprout ( using paper towel method) I'm putting them into Root riot cubes.
1. I am using 2- 4ft 40 watt bulbs each one ( 2600K) that I will keep on 24 / 7 for the first week. How far above the sprout should the light be? I don't want to stretch them too much nor do I want to burn them.
1. Is 24/7 the right light cycle for seedlings going outside? Is there a recommended lite schedule for seedlings going outside?
2. How long do I keep them inside before transferring them outside?
3. I have used Clonex in the past, is there anything else recommended for seedlings.

Thank you,

hi and welcome :pass:welcome back and welcome to autos.
i dont know much but il try,i think for cfl's its like 2 inch away.hmm they not gona get 24/0 outside 18/6 perhaps.
depends on temps im from a wet, cold and windy place so have no idea of the outdoors.
i recommend nothing special, whack them in the soil with a splash of water and let them get on with it.
i didnt do a very good job there sorry pal  thinks of a few peeps names that you can follow, similar ish conditions i hope they dont mind @Maria Sanchez @hecno

Thank you. Even though I live in Hawaii it is usually between mid 50s to lo 70s with LOTS of rain and always super high humidity. last years outside grow was good. I had some Benji Haze that loved the outdoors. they were not autos and I kept them inside for most of the veg cycle.

Aloha amigo!

Welcome to AFN.

I assume these are flouro bulbs, right? In which case, can have them quite close. I dunno, maybe 12" at first week. Watch them and see.

2. Is 24/7 the right light cycle for seedlings going outside? Is there a recommended lite schedule for seedlings going outside?
Yeah, sure. For autos, really want to let them veg as much as possible. So, 24/7 is good. Some do 20:4 on:off.

3. How long do I keep them inside before transferring them outside?
I usually do a minimum of 2 weeks, but 3 weeks is pref. Depends on your situation.
In many ways, the longer indoors under controlled environment the better.
So, how much time can you spare?
Remember to acclimatize them to the outdoors but slowly introducing natural light, temps and weather.

4. I have used Clonex in the past, is there anything else recommended for seedlings.
I use mycorhizzae in my soil mix which is great for the roots.

For tropical grows with high humidity, check out @hecno 's grows in north Australia and a few others in the outdoor section like myself.

All the best!

Welcome to AFN @lavaman I am low land tropics lat 15 , you are lat 28.9 or there a bouts , My temps are higher . What is your average humidity for the period you want to grow . [ 3 month average ] and average rainfall for the 3 months . You AK 48 will work well , but The LSD you may have problems with being 70 % Indica . Being the light intensity is not to high , I would not go any less than 20/4 . Also I would go for a 4 week veg . to get the root system time to develop .

Welcome, Home! You have come to the right place.

Thanks for the reply. Maybe this will help. https://www.lovebigisland.com/volcano-village/average-yearly-weather/
I hope it isn't too much info. Volcano village is a very wet and humid place as you can see.
Indoor grows are expensive as I need to almost continually run a dehumidifier and a heater along with intake and exhaust fans. Plus here on the Big Island of Hawaii the cost per kilowatt hr or however the fuck the electric co. figures it out is the highest in the country, figure at least 7-8 hundred dollars a month.
Thanks again
Aloha
