Lighting Am I crazy?

Sound like a good plan, I have 2 ms006 hanging in a 65*125*180 tent and I love it so for your size of tent I would go for 6 pieces.
The good things is that you can switch lights on and off to save light during the first phases and weeks of the grow to reduce power usage and heat production!
I believe that with the right strain in Rdwc you can yield 750-1000 grams from this setup!
Also you could consider to use both light systems, like 3 ms006 units and 2* 600 watt hps!

Hey Soylent Green - cheers for chiming in. Yes this was one of the advantages I did think of with these ms006 lamps, the ability to switch off some of the panels for when they're seedlings and save some power. Good idea about mixing up the light types, it's food for thought.

Right now I'm planning on making the six ms006 light configuration three lights in two parallel rows like this === I think it will be perfect. Have you grown with HPS before Soylent and would you be able to comment on the different in quantity and quality between them? As for yields, yes I'm hoping to get at least that much. I've done a few grows with HPS 600 watt in a SOG and gotten 550 - 600 grams just in soil on a good day so hopefully we're at the upper end of the yield there :) I don't want light to be the limiting factor that's for sure. I want to be sure that these LEDs will give me at least as much quality and quantity as you can get from HPS. That's the main mission here. The Gavita Pro 400 Volt / 600 Watt lamps are slightly better than regular HPS so that's the other option.

Hey T.T.Tarzan - Why not consider ms0004 units instead? dude cus I'm crazy I think... It's either six Grow Northern ms0006 LED Lamps... or three Gavita Pro 400 Volt / 600 Watt lamps (new generation HPS). That's pretty much what I'm tossing up right now. I want the weak point in the system to by my lack of skills :) My skill can always be improved.. I hope lol

Hey Pop22 - I really hope you let the cute little squirrel in your cross hairs live. Unless he was on a rampage in which case I hope you caught it on video. Rampaging squirrel memes on the horizon? Any who.. I've got a good fan and filter already but definitely very important for the whole system fosho. No point in having all the hydros and lights and shoddy extraction, most newbies make that mistake forsho.

Lewb12 - yea dude I got in touch with Grow Northern and they were SOUND as a pound. Really sound. He offered me a discount on the six lamps and gave me lots of helpful info.

How these Grow Northern LED lights compare to HPS ones in terms of quantity and quality is the big question. I want a lot and just as importantly it has to be really nice smoke. So which would you go for and why? For anyone who has experience using both LED and HPS what's the difference?

Also where are most of the folk on this forum from? UK, USA, Europe, South America, Asia, Australasia? Antarctica? (sorry to anyone I left out)

If you're gonna be growing over a long period of time the money you'd save on replacement bulbs would be worth it in my opinion. Iv only ever grown with LEDs but I know people that have used HPS, some have made the swap to LED but some are stuck in their ways. I'd go for it man, you don't wanna be thinking 6 months down the line 'what if'.

'Do I have enough light?'

My first grow I did with 125 watts CFL. I got some really nice pot from that.

My last grow I had 75 watts/sq ft and it was just too much. You can speed up the plant with
carbon dioxide, but that's not really an option for me.

There is a point of diminishing returns, you add more light, but don't get more pot.
You can always add another light later... but I suspect you will take things in a
different direction. You might want a Veg/Mother tent. Or some fancy new gadget.

Yes years ago I have grown hps style but i find it hard to compare because I used clones and different genetics!
But if you yield 600g under 600w in soil your one of the one procenters.
Never yielded that much gpw, used a very potent but not that big yielding strains.
Also keep in mind that growing led style takes a different way!
I have more peace of mind now im using the leds! For the moment both techs have their advantages but in the future hps will become obsolete!

Hey happy-horticulturist
What ever you decide sounds like ur gonna have a mini jungle in there.
Why not do 1x 600w hps and 2x GN006, just a thought..
Good luck finding a solution
Peace

Hay HH a very warm welcome to AFN,make sure you pop over to intros so everyone can say hi.

I'm very envious my friend I would love a tent that size,if I did I would kit it out with 6 MS0006 although 4 would be plenty in veg as you hang the lights higher and the footprint the lights give off is bigger,in flower you need the light closer say 30cm to get the best penetration...another advantage of the multiple units is you can angle them and have different heights to get the best canopy coverage.
One thing I can say is I've never seen a grower go back to HPS after buying GNs except to add heat if they grow in a shed (I'm looking at you NWs lol) you have given me an idea to start a testimonials thread for growers that have made the switch in fact I will start it now.

Hey Tang :) I've been reading this forum for the past two weeks and I feel kinda like a super star just walked in and I'm all star struck :D I'm glad you are very envious because I'm very envious of your growing skills. Your name and a few others on here are held in extremely high regard. I feel kinda blessed to be able to be on this forum because I've looked at a lot of other MJ Growers forums and this one seems to have the best community. I don't tell anyone what i'm doing because I've a wife and child and am paranoid I'll end up in jail because of growing some plants. So you guys are my only friends I can talk to :)

Anyway, I saw your testimonials thread and that's a really good idea. I was almost thinking of starting one myself so glad to see you took the inspiration and initiative. It will be more successful with you as the OP :P I will definitely head over to the introductions area and say hi. However I was kinda thinking about starting a new account with a shorter easier to say / read / type name. So I might leave it till after I come up with a new name...

Actually you're bang on with the adding an HPS for heat comment. I live in Ireland where it gets cold and the room I'm growing in is an used room which doesn't have any heating in. The ambient temperature in that room can really fluctuate but during the winter it can easily get 15 degrees C. So adding one HPS for heat would be a good idea and having a temperature controlled extractor fan would probably be ideal.

Right now I'm thinking of making a configuration of 1 x Gravita Pro 600 HPS (which I believe is the best HPS on the market) and 4 x Grow Northern Ms0006 LEDS.

I would put 2 GN LEDS side by side like this = at one end, then the Gravita in middle like, and then another 2 LEDS a the other end. So the configuration would look like this = o =

I think this will give me the best of both worlds and make sure my temperatures never go too low or too high... What do you think? Sound plan?

No need to create another account bro we can change your name although I do like this one,it's defiantly fitting for the vibe here.
Some of the best Autos I've seen grown are being done under a mixture of Gatvia (HPS and Plasma I believe) and GN,may I introduce you to the King of AFN https://www.autoflower.org/f52/auto...w-party-dwc-dutch-pro-nutrients-26458-14.html his threads are a hoot too.
