Hi all any help would be much appreciated . I tried putting them in moist paper towels and in a plastic lunch box in cupboard in a shoe box . But after 4 days still no sign , im not panicking i know they can take upto 14 days to germinate.

Thanks

First I drop the seeds into a shot glass full of water until they sink. Usually 12 hours for me. Then I get a flat tupper ware container and line the bottom with a damp paper towel. Then put the seeds in. Then put another damp layer on top. Place it on top of my oven to add some warmth to it. I just got 2 AKR to pop in a day.

Thanks for the feedback chum . Do you place them on top of your oven for the first few days . Will they need light or darkness ?

I keep them on top of the oven until they pop. Usually cover the top with a towel so its dark. Keep checking and adding a tiny bit of water when needed. I think soaking them before hand does wonders though.

Im going to try that method in water till thy drop with some free seeds I got .

I have now moved mine in the airing cupboard .

Yea man people have there ways of germination ... But I've germinated 3 seeds so far by leaving them in a cup of water for 24 hours and then planting them in pre watered soil until sprout. Germination is the easiest part to me. Good luck!

Oh and let me know how that Betty boo works out for ya! I about ordered that last time!

I popped my last two BB seeds a couple of weeks ago. Directly into soil. Both broke through the surface on the fifth day, day 1 of the grow. I get the best results when I germ at 80F, they like it hot and damp. I guess rot eats the seed in cold soils because when I dig to look for it after, it is often not there. Some seeds have thick skins. Assuming it is a viable seed, you have to wait for the water to soak through the casing. The older the seed is the longer it will take. People use all sorts of methods, soaking in peroxide or bleach solutions to soften the case. Mechanical scratching by shaking with an emery board, that kind of thing. The risk is you go too far and damage the seed. Some people even use plant hormones to give the seed a kick start. The simplest is to just wait and keep them warm and humid. Sometimes seeds won't germ even when you do everything right. It's good to have some spare seeds (like the freebies from the seedbanks) to substitute if you get a failure.
