Hey guys,

I might be able to briefly explain the use of different
Lenses. I am an led user myself and I have done a bit
of reading up. This is basically what I gathered...

A smaller angled lens throws its light on to a smaller
focused spot making it more intense.

The wide angle will light a larger area but with less
intensity.

Like when you have a torch/flashlight and
you twist the top to focus the beam..

The smaller angles give more penetration. As far as
I know, that is what we want. The light has to penetrate
The surface of the leaf to work effectively. I have no
experience with either brand or the designs but I guess
the wide angles are for the more supplemental or to
light a large area without taking up too much head room.
different brands have different height recommendations
i'm not saying that one is better but they are both designed
differently

Hope that helps

I use blackstar LEDs and I wouldn't say there the best you can buy,but for the price of there panels compared to others there well worth the investment and you will do well to find one that matches power & price of the BS

Good info guys, just curious is all. I heard a lot about Blackstar and it made me feel as if I was missing out on something, so I thought I'd read up a lil and ask as well, from an experience pov.

I will be investing in two more LED's for my next grow this coming Feb/Mar and want to go ahead and line up what I will be ordering now instead of scurrying at the last minute to get everything arranged.

I have 2 - 450W GrowLightPro Panels right now but they just released their 7 band 600W Panel (used to be 4 band). I was considering selling the two 450's I have and replacing with 4 - 600W Panels. This will provide 142,000 lumens over 25 sq ft.(5,680 lumens per sq ft).

If cash really weren't an issue though, I've been eyeballin the 336X Pro by HydroGrowLED.

i have got the 189xp and a 126xp that i'm not using at the moment. i have tried 3 different brands so far and i am really satisfied with these
They are very good, Seymour uses hydroglow and he gets great (world record) results with his dwc setups.
The only reason i don't really shout about them is because of the price. it's not really a problem for me but i'm sure 2x blackstars would do the same job as the 189xp for less $$

Exactly, I can spend $2000 on 2400W of GLP power, or spend $8000 on 1344W with fancy lens basically. Not saying they're crap, just miffed that they're so expensive. Maybe one day I will be crazy enough to do it. Until then, I have my sights set on LED options that are a lil more financially feasible.

not exactly... 3 watt led don't actually consume 3 watts... more like 1.5-1.7 watts
The Hydroglow 336 x panel is 336watt. it contains 336 led consuming around 1 watt each.
The Hydroglow 336xPRO panel is 520watt . It contains 336 x3 watt led's consuming around 1.54 watts each. this equals 517 watts.
(336 leds x 1.54 consumed watts =517watts) this means around 520 watts is consumed in total including the fans. that is where
the number comes from.....so for 2k you would get more like 517watts

The GLP's 450w is calculated by 150x 3w leds = 450w.
if you multiply the 150 leds x 1.6 watts actually used just like the hydroglow and you get 240w consumed watts.

so..you would need more like 2 GLP 450's to get the equal wattage of the 1 penetrator 336x pro
(240w x 2panels= 480 watts) GLP compared to (520w x 1panels=517 watts) HGL

for that 2k you would get 4 x GLP panels consuming 960 watts rather than 2400 watts
8k's worth of hydroglows would get you 4 x 336xp panels at 2068 watts rather than 1344 watts.

still expensive but the way different companies advertise is misleading.

The noticed that after I typed it up.

"520W of Raw Unparalleled Power!"

DOH! my bad.
