Mephisto Genetics Bubbasquanch....BioBizz and Megacrop.

Thank your both for you inputs. I used COCO w/ synethics simply because I have not been able to create that microbial community. I am definitely on board with simplicity. My current routine is both complex and time consuming. Sounds like you have the "soil web" mastered. I have access to FFarms very close by, just not sure how and what to amend with to get micro life moving. How do you know when the micros are thriving, what to add when and how often at start and during the grow ? Is there a specific way to tell ?

The best way to know if and also what type of microbe species are living in your soil is to get a soil sample and put it on a slide and look at the life under a microscope. Which I need to buy, I have only gone to a fellow growers house and confirmed through his scope the life I have, and when you have soil nematodes you know the soil is great and the food web is there. When using the Fox Farm trio, every watering I am always watering in microbes with the products I mentioned, as well as harvesting some from the wild. Many harvest their own via compost and also microbial teas...…. Another way of knowing, is seeing your plants healthy and thriving, from veg to full bloom. I don't like synthetic nutes, I believe they effect flavor as well, now I am not saying I wont use them, but I would much rather create a small eco system teeming with life and do what it has done since life began on this planet.

Every soil will have some kind of microbe life, from the soils found at Walmart to more exotic organic mixes, they all have microbial life and if not then it is simply dirt. There are bad guy microbes and pathogens that cause disease and havoc in the plants that people often misinterpret as a nutrient deficiency, we need to have the good guys outnumber the bad guys. A key is to keep your soil in a aerobic state, which means oxygen. This why in soil grows we stress to avoid overwatering, as overwatering creates a anaerobic state that the bad guy pathogens thrive in, and IF their population exceeds the good guys, then bad things are in store for the plant. A anaerobic state lacks oxygen which kills off the good guy population. This IMO is the biggest detriment in soil grows. On the other hand allowing you soil to fully dry out is also bad for the good guy microbes. Its somewhat of a fine line but with experience one learns proper watering. Don't overwater and don't allow a pot to dry to the point of wilting leaves.

If you keep the microbes happy, they keep the plant happy, if the plant is happy, you wind up with a final product that makes many happy. And you didn't outsmart mother nature, rather you took advantage of what she has done since life began.

My baby girl, putting on some weight and stinking up the joint.....I keep smelling Bubbalicious Bubble Gum...……

Have a look at this image, it is a current grow, a photoperiod strain called Inzane in the Membrane.....

Now I want you to notice something. Notice the 'tip burn' on some of the fan leaves. What would many here say is the cause? Most would claim you are close to some nute burn and back off on the nutes. This plant has gotten synthetic nutes maybe 3 times in her life, and in 1/4 strength amounts. It is the microbes that are feeding this plant. The soil food web. Making soluble nutrients available in the root zone, where the plant needs it, and in abundance. The microbes hold the nutrients in the soil via there body mass, as they feed on each other, and poop, they do so in the rhizosphere, the root zone, and the plant gets fed, fed and did I say fed? In soil grows you must have the organisms in your soil.

This plant is thriving in the Fox Farm mix, brand names aside, it is the biology in the soil.

Remember, mother nature doesn't need human beings, but we need mother nature. She can do in a grow bag what she does in nature, if only folks would let her.

When I read your posts I'm being taken on a journey.. I'm feeling emotions I would not usually relate with forum posts, the unique and beautiful images along with your words..what I feel is poetry simply takes my breath away.
