I see everyone grows outdoors in buckets, I've always wondered what the benefits of doing this are?

From a agricultural background, I've learned that a plant will only get as big as it's root structure allows. Are mjs different?

I would have thought that digging a 5 gallon hole, filling it with premium soil, and letting plant have all the room it wants to grow roots would be better, at the very least for less necessity for watering. But wouldn't the plant and yield be better without the confines of the bucket?

I understand a bucket in swamp area, or bad ph soil, or sand, clay, ect. But I don't understand it in normal circumstances.

Some people use pots so they can control the nutes and ph better.I agree with you about digging a hole and filling it with a good potting mix and feeding it on a regular basis. This is what I do and always get good results.:D

In cooler northern climates and at higher elevations plants grow quite a bit quicker in a bucket or grow bag than in the ground. Also if for some reason you need to move your plants you can do so with out harming them if their in a pot. :peace:

Also you're plants roots are less prone to insect/rodent/vermin attacks/infestations as well as disease.
