New Grower Can i get a little help please

OK first off i'm old so bare with me and honestly i suck with a PC and spelling.

Ok i have grown long ago back in the 80s. and i see ALOT has changed and how i found this place i don't know but i'm glad i did because i could use some help with all this new stuff out there.

ok i have read up on how to grow autos here on the forms and it has help a lot so this is what i need help with.

switching between fertilizer the growing kind and flowering kind. is there stuff i can buy at lows to keep a low profile like for growing i use this box of stuff and for flowering i switch to another?
last time i grew i. well throw some seeds in the back yard and wait a few months ha-ha.

can i use the potting soil they have there as well ?

the lighting i have.

honestly i forgot how to tell when there ready for just plane water at the end of the 65-75 days?

and lighting do i keep the lights on them for 13hr at a time or 20 or keep them on 24hrs?

And sorry if i'm troubling but i suck at looking up stuff that's why i'm just asking

Hey I'm definetly not an expert but if I'm correct you don't want to start giving them nutrients until they're actually starting to flower and start off at 1/4 strength and work up see how much she likes. What kind of lights are they? And you want the lights on as much as you can afford a lot of people say 18 on 6 off or more but you don't need to change the light cycle either. I don't see why you can't use potting soil and let me know how you get on

Autos are very pH sensitive. A meter works best, but you can use an inexpensive aquarium kit. 6.5 is the sweet spot for soil. 20/4 is your best bet for lighting hrs. Follow some grows here and they are lots of great growers here to lend a hand. You have found a super spot to learn and hang out and there are no age restrictions last time I checked. Good luck!

Thanks you both and the lights im using are 75 watt indoor plant growing bubs about 10 of them and there in 10 inch clamp housing. from lows o know not the best but i'm on a budget somewhat and i painted them chrome with high gloss to get max lighting . I plane on growing them in 1 of my unused bathroom witch im going to put up foil around the walls this weekend and also air tight seal it. and it has a good fan in there to keep the air moving so i think it be a good grow spot.

but what is a good fertilizer i can get from lowe's like miracle-gro should i use All Purpose wile its in the vegy stage and switch to the flowering when well it starts to flower? if so what are some of the best i could use?

Hey there oldtimer. Hope you're well. I'l give you some pointers. :smokebuds:

I have some links down in my signature that are worth a read when you get a chance.
By 75 watt do you mean equivalent? Like spiral light cfl? Or longer tubes?
Aluminum foil isn't great for the walls, it creates hot spots. You're better with flat white paint on wood or Mylar. No mirrors either. :thumbs:
Ventilation is important too. You need a good fan for exhaust with a carbon filter for the smells that will occur in flower or even earlier. A proper fan and another opening for intake will create negative pressure to pull fresh air in through the intake. Your inside fan sounds good, you need one for air circulation inside. Helps with the heat of lights and creates a breeze for the plants that strengthens the stems.

My super duper honest opinion here. Do Not...Do NOT get Miracle Grow soil or nutes. Look at Ace Hardware or local nurseries or some Home Depots or Lowes for Promix. Look for Promix HP or BX. It's the easiest thing for new guys in my opinion. Plus with that mix, I can guide you through your entire grow if needed.
You are better off ordering nutes unless you can get some better stuff locally. Fox Farms, General Organics..

For Autos, you can use any light schedule you want, they will still flower. but most use 20/4. Some 18/6 and some 24/0 for the first few weeks.

Wait until vertical growth stops before switching to flowering nutes. That's when veg stage truly ends. Around 5-6 weeks. It will show sex and begin to pre-flower (if female) at about 2-3 weeks, but continue on veg nutes then to get max veg growth thus max yields.

Im going to use sylvania spot gro bubs, and ok no foil thanks walls are already white. so no miracle-gro will do ill shop around my local hardware stores to see what i can fine. If u don't mine me asking why not use miracle-gro? just asking so i don't make a mistake and screw something up.

I think its got something to do with it being the wrong ratio of nutrients iv already made trhat mistake before

You're not that old. There are plenty of us here, that were dropping beans in the 70's and before. You have managed to start a thread and respond to several posts, so you're not that computer illiterate... When there is a red squiggly line under the word you type, that means it's misspelled. Right-click on it, and it will give you the correct spelling... spelling issue solved.

With all due respect, there's not a single thing you are doing that you could have learned from this site... why did you even say that?

There are dedicated, experienced teachers assigned to this forum but they can't help somebody that isn't straight with them. "I suck at looking things up".... seriously??

If you don't know anything, that's what this forum is for. If you are too lazy to look things up, one of the trainers will walk you through step by step... they won't care as long as you don't waste their time... just shoot straight.
