DIY CHEAP DIY microcontroller (arduino) grow room environment controller

Lmao sheeeessss,im working, watching telly, drinking beer, listening to music, smoking,,eating,,, an women says men can,t multitask,,,, lol

Whuups
looks like i left out a "smaller" detail in the sketch

Theres no code in the main system :slaps: it handles all the watering :crying:
Luckily thats the easy part
Wondering why the solenoid wasn´t triggered

My back hurts and my sofa is missing my presence.

All in the name of fun,,
:Windy:

Yeah,, Think i where happy that i got the menu / setting to work. and simply forgot about the rest,, ( then it´s nice, i already have the code in another project, (sort of)..

Finishing it up ATM,,,

The box i bought is to big for this project.
Ordered a new one 100x68x50mm with clear lid and waterproof.
Arduino nano will fit it perfectly.

So it slammed together in a really really eco friendly,, foodgrade COLESLAW box :crying:.

I´ll update tomorrow for reals
:vibes:

Automatic watering for soil

Automatic watering for soil
This is all for now
:wiggle:

Parts list.. Propperly missing something

1 x 1602 lcd with i2c 5$
1 x Arduino leonardo 10$ nano 3$
4 x flipswitches
4 x 10k ohm resistor
1 x mosfet RFP30N06LE
1 x 560 ohm resistor
1 x solenoid valve 12v 500ma 10$ ( they can get a lot cheaper )
1 x 12v 1000ma power supply 3$
1 x dc jack for the power supply
1 x schottky sr5100 diode
1 x soil moister sensor 1.5$
1 x enclosure 5$
wires

Cost price 50$ ore thereabouts
Adding a bucket 13$ thereabouts

Some of the parts used
Picture below shows the arduino nano not the lenoardo

PeSkkqf.jpg

It aint pretty..gonna be disasemble and put in small box with the arduino nano as brain
sU8sCxZ.jpg

extra… push button on/off for the lcd backlight

Fittings for the valve and res.
one push is cheap and easy. works flawless with pu hose
airpump

Tools:
wires (full core)
soldering iron
voltmeter

Setting up the menu and flipswitches
This just gives you an idea of how to toggle between 2 different functions…and setting up a lcd display adding text and so on…

Hooking up the solenoid valve
http://bildr.org/2012/03/rfp30n06le-arduino/

Hooking up the moister sensor..
If you got the above to work this is as easy as eating pie.
( alot quicker tho )

A short video going thru the different functions
1:checking the moisterlevel (had to soil my room with actually soil)
2:setting mode Looping thru settings for plant1
3:changing values (plant1)
4: going back to settings mode (tjecking new values)
values is changed so it will trigger the watering
5:going back to main system.... values is changed so the watering begins
6:bla bla bla

theres a 4. switch no show in vid

I think thats it..
Now that i have some fully working hardware..
i will simply crash test it for a while..
work on the sketch,,,Speed..

Redo the programming ( sketch ) for the arduino nano,

Later peeps
adding comments to the sketch,,,, will update later
:Hookah:

Hey KSJ nice work. Im about to start dabbling into this Arduino controller system. I've done some work with a engineer at my job that used something similar to this. He made a machine that fills cylinders with gas (CO2,Nitrogen) to a filled weight and purges the fill line after it reaches the correct weight. He let me help him debug his programming ( I'm not a programmer and have very little coding background) and he let me do a lot of the install because he was busy with other stuff. It just hit me not to long ago when i saw this thread that this is exactly what ive been wanting to do!!

ANYWAYS. I going to get a board i just dont really know what one to get. i want it be able to control basically everything off on board, AC, temp humdity sensor, CO2 sensor, and then set up a watering similar to what you got. Should i get the mega board? or should i get a few smaller ones to control each individually? I really like what you guys are doing here!

Nice...And thanx for the interest :tiphat:
I been waiting for some comments in here..No need for me to use time on making comments on my sketch, and post it, if nobody was interested !!!

Im not a C.programmer either, slowly getting better tho. :smoke:

If you only have to connect a couple of sensors like Co2/temp/humi%. and a couple of relays.(Ac/Co2)

I whould go with one arduino nano. It should fit your needs. 3,7$

Any
Questions just ask away
Peace!

Edit:
A thread to follow also

Thanks! My hopes/plans are to run a window A/C unit off of it with temperature variables that will trigger the fan on and compressor on at a set number instead of the fan always running. Im sure that within a few months it should pay for itself with power savings. Also looking to do some sort of self watering soil controller or something.

Hey Ksj, How's the testing going? I took a Kureg K-Cup coffee maker apart this weekend. That's a complicated little machine. A friend gave it to me because it was broken. I scavenged the pumps and transformer for my Arduino project. Keep up the good work you're inspiring me!
