I have been given the honour of growing Auto Creeper by @SuperSativaSeedClub in the 2nd leg of the AFN 2020 battles. SSSC were super generous and provided two UVB T5 lights from California Lightworks for the final 2-3 weeks.

This is my first round of battles and hope I do the four vendors justice.

Setup will be as follows:
  • 4x4x7 tent
  • 8x ChilLED Growmau5 V2 pucs
  • 2x California Lightworks UVB lights
  • 2x 180W heaters run from an INKBIRD controller
  • 1x HR-15 humidifier run from an INKBIRD controller
  • 1x RVK Sileo 150-E2 extractor with Rhino Pro filter run from an SMSCOM controller
  • 1x Pulse One VPD Monitoring system
  • 2x IP cameras
  • 4x Smart plugs
  • 6x15ltr AutoPots
  • Biobizz lightmix with 30% Hydroton expanded clay pebbles mixed through.
  • Full BioTabs line up

The seeds were put into paper towels today and placed onto of the tent which is being pre- heated ready for the girls.

I have already prepared their homes. Each seed gets the exact same treatment.

Airdomes were placed on top of new root control disks.

Hydroton expanded clay pebbles were then added.

I then weighed out 75g of Siliciumflash and Startrex for each pot.

The Biotabs mix was then added to the substrate and mixed thoroughly before filling each pot.

I then evenly placed three Biotabs in each pot in the same locations at one index finger depth.

Finally each pot was topped with more Hydroton.

Better get the popcorn out. I think this will get interesting! :pop:

@TheMongol

So today turned out to be quite a surprise as all the beans split and were showing their tap roots.
With this in mind I gave all the AutoPot trays and valves a thorough clean, new hoses and new root control mats.

The trays and AutoPots were then put in place, connected to the res and airpump.

I then added 5g Mycotrex to each hole, dropped each bean inside and soaked each pot with 1ltr water mixed with 2ml Orgatrex and 1g Bactrex.

For this journal, both Auto Creepers take centre stage either side.

Each pot was then labelled accordingly.

Hopefully we'll have some cotledon's by Sunday
:growing:

Well it's been a week and still no signs of our girls showing up so I dropped two new beans in paper towels today.

Sod's law says the original two will surface tomorrow now

Now you're on go!

Well lessons learnt and MAJOR note to self...
DO NOT reuse lightmix and don't be in a rush to start when you don't have all new kit...
BE PATIENT Chronic!

Day #8, of germination #2 and only one of the 2 has survived. That's 1 seed in 4. I've never had this much bad karma before so it can only be the reused medium.

The other four I have in the tent are also stunted and not healthy so I contacted @TheMongol to ask permission to start from scratch using fresh soil, so that's where we're at now.

It's been a HUGE lesson, which is a good thing in itself but a poor show from yours truly for my first go at battles.

Anyway, new seeds in today...

and a busy day ahead of me tomorrow...

The girls that are still showing some sort of life will be re- potted and given a chance to grow in the lovely UK sun we're having. Even a few juicy nugz is better than killing them off.

Hope you're all keeping well and thanks for being so patient with "Chronic the impatient stoner"

So here we go again...
Fresh start, new beginnings, all that jazz...

Yesterday I cleaned out all the old medium (threw it on one of the flower beds in the garden) and mixed up a fresh batch.
As before the airdomes were centred at the bottom and surrounded by clay pebbles. Each pot then received a mix of:
12 jugs of light mix
2 jugs of clay pebbles
75g Startrex.
(Jugs being a 0.5ltr Pyrex jug)

This morning all the beans were looking keen to get going:

So 3 biotabs were placed in each pot.
2g Bactrex was popped into the verve and a seed of choice placed on top before covering and watering with 1ltr of water mixed with 2ml Orgatrex and 1g Mycotrex.

So here's the (hopefully final) setup with each girl in place...

Hope the other one shows up soon.

Day #7 @Trichome farmer
So we're a week in and things are looking promising. Temps and humidity are stable and inline with VPD.

I gave each 150ml of water only in a syringe around the perimeter to encourage the roots to stretch out.
