ok so I'm thinking I want to grow 4 monster plants in my 4x4 tent but need better penetration than my hps .
So I'm thinking one cob per plant, 100-150w each? I want to replicate the results I see from a hs1.

Looking around the 1818 and 3590 leds are about £42 each but would they do what I need?

And will need to buy this bit by bit as I know it's not going to be cheap in the uk.

Thanks for any input.

Thanks goauto.

I like the sound of that but I do have to say driving cobs that hard have more disadvantages than advantages. Cobs do so well because of their efficiency or light per watt ratio. Cranking the cob up that high drops efficiency dramatically and then making it only slightly better than what your replacing. Second is intensity. You want more intensity and I understand that but know your hps is bright but it's coming from a large area. Cobs light comes from an area close to an inch which can create a very intense and probably to intense beam. 50 watts is probably the best way to go and I would say 75watts is just about the max.

Whats up man. For what you are wanting to do i would choose the cxb3590 cob. Your next choice is wether your going to run the 72volt or the 36 volt. And at what amperage you are going to run them. This will detirmine your wattage. The most efficient option is running the 4 cxb3590 and getting the .7amp driver. If you want something a tad brighter but not quite as efficient you can go with the cxb 72volt and run it at .7 amps.... or you can run the 36volt with a higher amperage driver like the 1.4 amp driver but the efficiency goes down.

Best outcome for what you are wanting and cheapest route i see is running the cxb3590 32volt x4 and running them at .7 amps.

The more amps you run the less efficient and the higher the cost for the driver.

Meanwell makes a driver that will push 4 32volt cobs at .7 amps at a somewhat afforavle price and its quality stuff

To be totally honest i would do a 5 cob setup in your area. The 4 in a square and 1 in the middle idea... that would kill it in your tent.

Run the cxb3590 36 volt x 5 @.7 amps
The meanwell
HLG-185H-C700A

Will power them perfectly. Super efficient

P = I times E

P = watts

So 36 volts (volts = E) x 5 = 180 volts

I = amps so .7

.7 times 180 = 126 watts....

So yes youll be pulling 126 watts of power instead of 600 and the 5 cob rig especially the 3500k cxb3590 36V will BLOW a 600 hps away....

@BigSm0 check my math but im pretty sure this is the ticket for him

Am I being a twat or can I just not find 3950's on google? If its supposed to be 3590's I really dont see 5 CXB3590's at 0.7A being enough light for a 4x4 space and out doing a 600W HPS...im running 4 CXB3590's and 4 CXA3070's in a 0.8x0.8m tent at 0.7A and i think its just the 'right' amount of light giving me a PPFD of around 750....

I think for a 4x4 you would almost want to run the same light with 8 COB's at 1050mA but I would be thinking at 1400mA...

From the COB calculator that would give 71,000 Lumens with a PPFD of 619.4 over 16sq.ft on 1400mA but only gives an efficiency of around 55%...
