New Grower Confused! Is this normal?

The ww x sweettooth finally manages to get healthy... after atleast two weeks or so. Havent watered it for more than 13 days and today it gets back to the way it was. Im going to let it dry out for another. If you compare this pic with the ones posted before you can easily see why I was unhappy with it.

Its showing a fair bit of nitrogen deficiency in the lower leaves, seems to be spreading but I'll feed it tommorow after watering. Through this grow ive been using really mild nutes. Never more than 450ppm's. This plant is at day 40 (5th or 6th week). Should I increase the ppm's? How many ppm's are you guys feeding at this stage of growth?

Cheers.

Very resource links @wtf. Thanks! Here's the update and some pictures....
Like we ALL say, Muddy's the man!
You're doing just fine, Brother, reps for the turn around!

To be honest, I've never checked my ppm, although someday I might. I like to go 1/4 strength on the nutes, and ramp it up as the plant can tolerate it. I also love the beneficial bugs (mycorrhizae) for the boost they give to the soil and roots.

I was up to 800-1000 ppm at that time. I've been doing 1100-1150 lately (weeks 7 & 8).

I didn't think a PPM meter would be useful except for hydroponics (re-nuting an existing reservoir). But, I think I got a bad batch of RO water at a 25-cent dispenser. I wasn't measuring PPM consistently and got some burned tips. Backed off the strength, moved back up to where I was, and never had burn again. All I can think is: The machine's membrane (filter) was bad and it was dispensing water with a higher PPM than the normal 10-40. Starting at a higher PPM could have put me at 1300 with nutes.

So, now I ppm the water before adding nutes.

Another unforseen help was administering powdered KoolBloom. It comes in a massive bag, but you're only supposed to use 1.25 gram. Never having used it before, I did the customary "use half." I used 0.8 gram and ended up with 800 ppm (including what "useless's" feed schedule says to use when administering these bloom boosters). I didn't notice any stress on the plant so I decided to do a second watering with 1 gram (which put me at 1050 ppm).

If I had the presence of mind the first time, I would have used the ppm as a guide to how much powdered KoolBloom to use. I could have probably done 1 to 1.25 gram and been around the 1100-1200 range. I didn't even think about that. That would have been a useful tool to arrive at a (relatively) safe strength when dealing with unknowns.

Hey!
Now that's a frosty beauty!!
Amazing what a months time can do. What do the trichomes look like? Those along with the leaves will give you the best idea of when to harvest. My Dinafem critical cheese is taking a really long time. The trichomes are almost all cloudy now, not too many amber though... The leaves are finally getting yellow, I will have been feeding water only for three weeks this weekend. I have decided she will come down Sat or Sun. I thought sure she was going to be ready last week. L

Thanks guys! Boost of confidence :)
I havent been able to asses the trichromes properly. Tried today after reading ur post but only with a 10x magnifying glass, that didnt really help at all. From vague looks of the bud I think the main cola has cloudy heads and the rest are pretty clear. Im going to get hold of my bud's macro lens. Im hoping ill be able to capture a few good macros.

Im still confused though, because many auto growers say 'harvest when leaves turn yellow'. Claiming that the bud swells around 20 percent in the last 2 weeks of yellowing leaves( the yellowing process takes 3 weeks, thats what they claim)
Now am I supposed to harvest by trichrome color or yellowing lol?
