Hey everyone is doing a great job. this has been a fun comp. well here is my update on my NL

True, but maybe a quick finisher is part of the point... after all, if you're going to spend three full months, maybe it just makes more sense to go with a photo plant, rather than an auto. I think the fact that it is only 9 weeks long will help people know what kinds of plants are fast finish, and even a little about yield possibilities in a short time.

Sure, the contest will be over, but why not finish the growing, and just add it after? Besides a cool contest, all the data here is actually quite awesome to give a yardstick for measure.

Firstly, absolutely no flaming here...the rest of my post is to mostly agree with you but to slightly alter what you said. So, yes, being a fast finisher is definitely a great characteristic and what draws me to autos, but the other factor is the ability to keep a small perpetual setup going. Without needing to flip/flop between veg and flower light cycles, you can be perpetual in tiny containers and harvest 1 plant every other week. In my setup, if I had 1 auto strain that I grew, I could put a new 16oz container to seed every other week and harvest 1 every other week, and never need to adjust my light cycles OR run out of bud. In that case, it doesn't really matter how long they take to grow, so long as it's 12 or less weeks from seed to weed. 12 weeks is plenty of time, but this contest is a smidge over 9 weeks...even the fastest auto strains on here take 70 days from dropping the seed until you cut her down, and anything with sativa/super-auto genes is looking like 80 days+. 80 days is 11.5 weeks, 2.5 more than this contest.

I grow in a 2x2 tent, so I'm by no means "big balling" with my setup, but I'd rather grow a properly matured plant and keep them in a perpetual bi-weekly rotation than try to find the absolute fastest plant and grow it back to back to back one seed at a time.

Not bashing, not arguing, and really...I am NOT complaining because I LOVE this contest, just saying in a perfect world you'd give enough time for some longer-flowering strains to show their true colors, since more often than not, the longer the flowering the better the smoke and yield.

My update for the week, I had problems again with the drip line so now I have pulled it out and am running straight out of the valve into the medium. She has a pretty constant flow now and hindsight being 20/20 I should have done it this way the entire time. I am thinking of taking this concept to a larger scale in a few months and using 3 gallon smart pots with vermiculite. From the root growth I am seeing here, if I could duplicate the same root results on a larger scale I have to believe it would yield maximum results. Anyways, on to the pics.
