So what will get you more time in the USA . bootlegging or growing pot ?? or is it different in each state ?? Just curious . Stop to think about does it really matter

I think the major difference between the two is that bootlegging booze (I assume you meant booze) generally involves not paying taxes on your product. Part of that is a federal excise tax. Congrats, you've just committed a federal felony! So I think unless the state has some really draconian laws, you're in more trouble for running a still than tending a garden. Just my opinion.
