So I had a nice email chat with a fellow at Auto Seeds Company regarding my Berry Ryder plants nearing completion. He left off asking me if I intend to darken the plants for the last 48-72 hours saying "It is a little risky but if you get it right then the plant crams on resin and the plant goes a crazy shade of purple (get it wrong and you kill the plant though)!"

I had planned on 24 dark period based on AFN posts and some local friends advice, but does anyone have experience with extending the dark period longer? Maybe I'll do 48 for one plant, and 72 for another? What do you all think?

Stoner lore..

A lot of people have tried it, but there's no proven results. If you force a plant into the dark for that long, it's actually more likely to hermie or start throwing the hormones to do so.. which, I say without any proof at all, would reduce potency no?

I'd like to believe leaving my plant in the light until I chop it is a better idea.. the amount of trichome gain in 48-72 hours can be no more than minimal on a flush plan in the dark. :2cents:

Thanks WG. I posted too early, as i'm now finding plenty of posts on the subject. I think i'll leave one plant in the dark and see what happens.

I've done some with 3 days of darkness (not autos) and noticed a visible increase in trichs, I've heard it's strain dependent but it's definitely worth a shot IMO. Good luck!
