Extraction Decarbing before making cannaoil?

So, is ABV a good source for the foundation of some oil? I have read random references at several sites that list ABV as possible source material. So I was wondering if I should go ahead and cook some up. To my thinking, based on some charts and scientific writings on cannabinoids/terpenes and temperature profiles, ABV should be fairly low in most of the THC constituents as the normal temps for vaporizing are 350--390 which coincides with most of the THC. Leaving the CBD constituents mainly untouched since the require higher temps to volatize. Is my mind on the right track? Or should I slow down in my production of ABV source material:Hookah:

We have been vaping an early harvested Dinafem Original Amnesia Auto, which is described as being medium/high thc (9-13%) and medium cbd. (no measurement given) Since we only dramatically lowered thc levels, why not get the most from the plant and turn it into another product.

I use AVB in oil for capsules, I don't think I'd cook with it.. AVB is a great base though for double cooked oil.

I have been over to beyondchronic.com checking out the cannaoil/capsule info. I am just not sure about the dosing. I have about a cup and a half of ABV and the thought was a cup of ABV into 2 cups of coconut oil then into capsules. Since we vape at 375f and typically finish with a hit or two at 390f, this ABV is pretty used, but should still be chock full of good CBD for beneficial effect. So I guess that I will make this in the next few days and see what we get. More to follow.

A gram of my ABV was at the perfect single dose at 1 gram of ABV. I vape at 284 on mine. So, mine still has a decent amount left over still.
Perhaps your would be solid at 1.5 grams to 2 grams per dose? Hope this helps brother.

I'm wanting to make some cooking cannaoil for various desserts (one dessert will be baked, the other is a milkshake blend using oil and peanut butter), but have a question. I understand that for edibles the herb needs to be decarbed. I plan on making my oil in a slow cooker on low - which is about 200*F and simmering it for 8 hrs. Shouldn't this process already decarb the THCA? Many recipes I've seen say to decarb before making the oil, which seems redundant to me - if THCA is converted simply by adding heat, technically I should be decarbing while making the oil. Am I correct, or should I actually perform a decarb step before stating the oil infusion?
decarb before cooking, as cooking 8 hours will likely ruin the taste of the oil. IMO 2-4 hours is plenty. I make a lot of oil and it just keeps getting better. Crockpots are ok, but not the best option for cooking oil unless its a good, digital temp controlled one. The standard crocks have no temp control. The inly difference between low and high, is how long it takes to get hot. That info is right from Rival btw.

I use a double boiler. In the upper pan I put in about an inch of water. I put the weed/oil in a pyrex bowl. I clip a candy thermometer to the pan with the probe in the water. By adjusting the rate of boil in the lower pan, you can regulate temps fairly precisely. I cook my fully decarbed weed at 190F for 2.5 - 4 hours. let it cool. Freeze it then thaw it again and cook another 30 minutes.

Decarb in the oven at 252F for 27 minutes. If course, ovens aren't that accurate so I use an oven thermometer and decarb at 250 for 27 minutes.

I believe temp and time control through out the process is key to top quality oil. Look at the Magic Butter Machine, they've got it figured out.
The last thing that is needed is keeping it stirred. I stir every 15 minutes. that breaks the boundary layer that forms, allowing for better extraction.

One of my caps will knock out the average user, I know, that theory was tested.....lol!

Just decarb first for 30 mins at 122 deg C, then infuse into coconut oil on a double boiler for an hour. Adding lecithin makes a big positive difference too.

That formulation has to be ingested, right?
I can only use smokeables... I have the liver of a camel.
Coconut infusion would be so easy and harmless to work with.
I teach chemistry, so I am not afraid of working with chemicals, but if I could avoid compunds with flammable and/or smelly fumes, it would make life easier.

was thinking of having a bash at this tomorrow.i have 200g of coconut oil, will wing the rest.
didnt get the lecithin stuff as this may be the one and only time i do this.

The lecithin is an extra, but not needed. I don't use it anymore, there is currently controversy over possible affects on the heart.

I've also streamlined the process just a little. Cook time 1.5-2 hours is plenty, more is a waste of time. I still find refrigerating or freezing for a day or two seems to increase potency, however, I've no science to support that so take it with a grain of salt...lol

Actually, I mostly make my oils etc in a Magical Butter machine, its a big time saver!

And trim cooked at 1 cup of trim to 1.25 cups coconut oil makes great topical oil, and can be used for caps if your short

Cannabutter and decarb is my new bestie about to try my hand at some Green/Gold Dragon... I have heard a bunch of people claim they dont get medicated from edibles... well they are not doing it right and I feel bad for them.

LOL I hear that, the 2nd big batch of butter I made.. I opted not to wear gloves and licked my fingers... I still had not tried edibles needless to say about a hour later I am pretty sure via absorbing through my skin I was so medicated that I had no eyeballs and I felt like my legs were led... I was totally not expecting it and it was a very interesting experience... All it takes for me is about 1/8 or 1/4 TSP of butter smeared on a cracker and I am good for about 5 or 6 hours :D
