Hi Everyone

Just came across this site as we were researching autos, thought we'd sign up to hopefully get, and hopefully give, some good tips and share our grow, we have never tried auto's before and have decided to give them a go.

Our big question is ... can they survive on a 12/12 light cycle from seedling to harvest?

We are ordering seeds on Thursday - like the look of Heavyweight Fast & Vast - do you have any recommendations? Our garden is indoors, a fairly small room that we will be expanding beginning of next year.

The reason why we are asking about the 12/12 lifecycle is we have plants in flowering at moment and are wondering if we can also introduce autos?

Anything from Heavyweight will be killer! The Dutch passion would be another on the top list. and sweet seeds if you like reds and purps. the list really goes on and on..

sounds great will keep them in mind. would not mind some better color than green for a change.

so what do you recommend for light time 12/12 from start or 20/4? :Growing:

If you want some killer smoke, World of Seeds Afghan Kush Ryder is a great knockout strain!! If its purple you want, the most purple thing out there is Purple Kush from Buddha Seeds!!

Great Color and taste = Sweet Seeds Red Strains. I did Dark Devil and it looks super dark. You need light to see that they are purple, otherwise they are almost black.

Welcome Ozzie,

if it were me, I would let the photo's go full circle, and the start the Auto's.

20/4 is the prefered cycle for automatics and it gets tricky to mix the two. Believe me I have tried. You will not get the best from an auto grow on a 12/12 cycle. Better to have a second light and cupboard if you are doing the two types.
But, whatever, we do what we can and often make life difficult for ourselves. I do it all the time.

God luck and keep posting pal, eP.

Hey Ozzie and welcome, I just happened by and figure I'd post. So I'm not an expert by any means, however I have done both and would have to agree with the others, it does make things difficult or you will see diminished yields if started and finished like that. I believe most people actually do a 24/0 for the first couple weeks, least that's what I do till about pre flower then I switch to 20/4, although sometimes I do an 18/6 which a lot of other growers recommend as well. I watched a 6 hour video of four growers-same strains- diff cycles and 18/6 actually came out ahead, but not every strain grows the same obviously, so anything could happen. There are threads on each individual topic of question throughout to better give you an idea of what your looking for. Same for strains, but it will really depend on what specifics you're looking for, height, yield, the kind of smoke, etc.
What will help is kinda list these things and people will better be able to get you where you want to go.
About how much longer are your babies gonna be flowering?
Either way I'd prob do like Epenguin says and let em finish, unless you have a separate area to start seedlings and you only had a couple weeks left for flowering.

I have to go medicate... Welcome to AFN You'll find a lot of info (scattered) and helpful people which can help you find the info.
When you do get it up and going start a journal and there's a section for photos if you want to stop in and post what you're workin with now, thanks..
