Grow Mediums Does siphon pump to empty reservoir need to have food safe plastic?

I know this may be a weird question but I want to get a small hand powered siphon pump to empty a reservoir. I found some $10 hand siphon pumps on amazon that is listed to use to transfer gas or water from aquariums but it says it not for drinking water. Does the plastic in the pump need to be food safe if you put it in the water in your reservoir to empty it when cleaning the reservoir on there?

Like it says, don't use it for drinking water. Looking at it, the main concern looks to be microbial growth in the upper pump parts and inaccessible tubing, not chemicals leaching out of the the plastic.

Otherwise, plastic products that state they are aquarium safe should be safe for plants (in terms of toxic materials not leaching out), with aquarium fish and ecology seeming to be more sensitive to more pollutants than plants.

If you're emptying the res why would it need to be food safe?
