If your using a hps the fixture has to be wired for a separate hps ballast.

Most CFL's use a standard light socket. Most HPS/MH lights use a special, larger socket. The HPS/MH bulbs also require a piece of equipment called a ballast, as they require a much higher voltage to operate, and "igniter" circuitry to start the bulb initially.

No, you cant put a hps bulb in a cfl fixture. The sockets are diferent sizes and you also need a ballast made for hps bulbs.

you'll find that it is cheaper to buy a complete kit than in pieces. I got my 600watt MH kit, with that wing reflectore, bulb, and ballast for $149 US shipped. You'll find most used ballast are going for almost as much as a new kit does!

Check the USA listings, some will ship international. Avoid the kits with magnetic ballasts, thats old tech and less efficient. The digital ballasts can use either Metal Halide bulbs or High Pressure Sodium. Most magnetic ballasts are set up for one or the other, or you have to buy a special bulb ( More $$$$$ )

Cheers guys.. thanks for your input. Gonna go see what I can find.

In the middle of watering these and the run through of water is taking forever to come through the soil

the big cfl's i use , 95 watt , 125 watt , 200 watt , 250 watt , and 300 watt all use the same sockets as hps/mh

peace
