It breaks my heart to do this, but I must rescind my prior recommendation.
For five years now I have been having great success with Recipe420 potting soil. As long as I let it sit outside in the bags and break down for a few months I ended up with light chocolate cake like texture soil. It was beautiful, rich, and affordable.
So this year I was perfectly comfortable dropping $200 dollars on a car full of bags. I let them sit outside for a few months like I usually do and then opened the bags one morning to start mixing soil... and was horrified by what I found. The bags REEKED of ammonia and were completely uncomposted bark, woodchips, and pumice. There did not appear to be much worm castings, peat, or other ingredients. When I checked the ph it came out at 5.4
I have tried to contact the company multiple times, but they appear to be ignoring my messages.
This seems to be the trend with potting mix quality as demand is skyrocketing. Companies are cutting corners and producing a sub par product.
If anyone else bought this mix on my recommendation and ended up with the same results, I deeply apologize.
