New Grower exhaust set up

hi all i havepretty much got everything for setup
2x4x5 lighthouse tent
240 blackstar led
4in active air in line
4in phat 150 carbon filter

is there a preference on the ducting run off the fan and filter does it need to be aluminum or will flex work

I use the aluminum flex and it works just fine, I've seen others use plastic but I'm a big fan of safety first.

Do you only have one blackstar 240 in that tent? You need two of them to get the right coverage. One blackstar only covers 2x2 feet. I know it says 2x3 on the site, but enough people using them on there we've found 2x2 to be the limit of performance.

Smokin' Pig is spot on. Plastic tubing will work, but I say go with the aluminum stuff. And get another BlackStar if you can.

Most ventilation 'begins' at the carbon filter. I have the same one you do and it works great fyi. SO...It goes like this:

Carbon filter, put fan on top pulling in the direction so it's pulling through the filter. Then ducting to that and run that out of the tent and out of room if possible. Seal it all up good with Gorilla tape...or duct tape.
A lot of us put the filter on the floor of the tent/box and go from there. Some mount them up higher by hanging or sitting them on top of something. Both work, you juts gotta feel it out.

make sure i have this right the fan doesnt have to be mounted up high it can be attached to the filter on the floor i thought i had seen them mounted from the celing hanging up high
