So day 67 and my girl is still fattening up, more hairs turning Brown each day. Still quite a lot white ones left. Will check tricomes and flush again tomoz. Peace

And finally the second blue treacle,she was also fed and watered yesterday she is still growing well the canopy Is leveling out around the main cola and she is shaping up to be a beast (well one can hope)

Lookin great bud! Just noticed now youre running 500w of CFL... thought about upgrading to a HPS or LED? You would grow bigger plants with less watt, just a thought!! Peace!!

Thanks @ChillFred. Yeah I did look a hps lamp when I was buying the setup. But it's in a small wardrobe 0.5x100x180 with walls and Insulation on each side and I was worried about temp issues, even with the extractor and 2 fans I have to leave the tent door open on hot days and that with clf. I did look at the hps with the extrator vents in the reflector but it's a solid wall either side so couldn't run the ducting! Thank tho bud advice and tips always welcome I'm here to learn

Hey Soundsystem, your lineup of girls is pretty damn good lookin'! It looks like you are doin' just a fine job with those pretty little ladies.

If you're worried about heat, then you made a wise decision to avoid hps. However, you'll find that LEDs actually produce less heat than CFLs and they also use less energy. That said, I don't know that the temp differences between the two would allow you to keep your tent zipped. On the downside, LEDs also require a greater distance between the lights and the plants than CFLs do, so really, your head room ultimately determines whether you could use LEDs or not.

Thanks @Nuggz Yeah iv seen some of the great grows people are managing with led lighting so may have to look at investing in the near future! My tent is 1.8m high so I think could probably get away with a led light as long as I was too keep with the shorter strains. Is there a general rule of thumb for the distance with led lighting? Like 1foot per 100w for example? Or is the distance required based on lumens ect? Cheers for the advise peace

I don't know that there is a general rule, but most LED retailers tell people that the lights need to be 18 to 24 inches from the plants. That said, a whole lot of people seem to go closer than that and get away with it without burning their plants. It's pretty important though when the plants are just seedlings to keep the LEDs a good distance away or you can burn the heck out of them when they are babies. Most people do some experimenting to find out how close they can keep the lights without burning plants. The distance away is usually relative to how many watts the light is.

Plants are pretty smart. They'll definitely find a way to tell you when the lights are too close. The smaller 50 and 100 watt LED bulbs that are often used for side lighting can be placed fairly close to your plants with no problem at all. The smaller LED bulbs don't seem to burn leaves unless a plant is actually touching the bulbs, or at least that's been my experience.

I really like LED lighting, but when your plants are little, they just love CFLs. You can include LED lighting at a maximum distance from the babes, but place your smaller CFLs just inches away from your seedlings. Out of all the different kinds of lighting, I think the cool white spectrum CFLs give baby plants the very best start. But once they get into flowing age, it's the LEDs that's going to help pack on the weight and make a much denser bud than you would normally get with most CFLs.

Evening afn. How's every one doing?
So day 70 of my first grow of blue treacle. My girl is doing well buds are still fattening up. Flushed again with water today. Leaves are still green and still white hairs left, also only a few amber tricomes. so still a few days left I think. Thoughts anyone?
