Redneck CO2 works, but make sure you find the build with the "solenoid" that disallows overflow so you don't get any on your plants, because it WILL have to go ABOVE the plants as CO2 is heavier than atmospheric air.
Thanks for that tip. I'm not sure I'll even do the co2 this round...but I'll keep the overflow in mind, probably buy something eventually as I am not known for making things that work.
As spiker mentioned that Money was tight,i gave him a cheaper option than buying a ph meter.I never advised him NOT to buy one,in fact i advised it was a handy thing to have, twice!! Did you read the posts? While redrobbo's advice isn't necessarily wrong, I would strongly recommend getting a pH meter and keeping up with it from the start as you learn to grow. Knowing what's happening in your soil is a great thing as you watch the plant go through it's stages. For every grower I've seen who says they've grown for years without checking pH, I've seen 10 others with pH swings, deficiencies, and stunted plants. With properly balanced & amended soil, a healthy microherd, properly dosed organic nutrients, and water with reasonable pH & ec, it is possible to ignore pH and have a great harvest. But that's a lot of variables for a beginner to get right. I've seen too many times that someone has a plant go badly wrong in the middle of the grow and can't give us good information to help us diagnose what's going on. Again, maybe it will all just work out, but it's a small investment to be properly prepared with a meter and some organic pH up/down. Better to have it and not need it than to be scrambling around trying to learn a crash course in pH as your precious plants get sicker by the day.
Just my "My 2 cents" on the matter. Good luck, spiker!

Dolomite of lime is great for stabilising your ph in the medium. No meters required.
Just mix into your medium at the dosage i said andyour ph will remain constant.
So no need to buy ph meter or ph up & down, just now anyway, but as i said b4,handy to have ph meter, just for the
odd check now and again.
