New Grower First grow starting this week - 1xNirvana Blue Mystic 1xNirvana Short Rider

looks awesome so far man if you want to you can go ahead ahead and look for a 150 watt hps I know htg supply carries them for a great price i feel it would dramatically increase your yield but you would also have to look at getting a tad better ventilation in there more likely as the hps would produce quite a bit more heat than the cfl's there

Thanks for checking in! I think for sure the hps would be great but I'm at 84 degrees with the giant cfl's. I hate to admit it but I don't cut holes very well....So extra ventilation is a challenge. Lol. I'm leaning toward Led lighting for the next grow when I have some spare change. Family Summer vacation is going to take all my pennies!

Nice work on the cab, sb! I used to grow in a similar space and it definitely limits your lighting choices due to heat build up. You're probably on the right track with LED in the future.

Just read through your journal mate, looks like you're off to a great start. Subbed in. Good luck!

Heres my latest pics of blue mystic 1 and blue mystic 2. They were germinated at the same time but number 1 peeked out of the dirt 2 days before number 2. Both were germed on May 10, so thay are at day 11.

Also I took a pic of some gnat things that have shown up. Do I need to do anything about these? I have some neem oil but thought the plants might be too young. Plus my short ride is just peeking through the dirt today ( she's a replacement for the SR that didn't germ). So this is day 3 only for her.

Ha! join the club...and the wife and I aren't even paying for the primary expenses....:( $2K for groceries....insane.

I also have Blue Mystic auto from Nirvana. Will be watching your grow as well as my own. We are about same length along. Mine's in a PC box so gotta watch the heat.

yea no def actually you are not bad at cutting holes many years ago my first grow was very similar to this one in a small cab and i was running two 150 watt hps in there and it would get kinda hot even with ventilation.......if you are looking torwards led lighting you have many choices to go with i have quite a few friends that have used these lights and tested them out with amazing success and pretty nicely priced as well here is a link to the lights http://www.topledgrowlight.com/

Nice healthy looking seedlings ... :Sharing One:

Yes aykay, I believe the heat is way more than expected for these bulbs. The ones I bought are below, I purchase 2 2700K and 2 6400K:

Plus had to buy the mogul cords so spent about $160.00 on this lighting -- should have done LED in retrospect, but starting out you think CFL will cut the cost, then you buy big to get the lumens and read so much and try to get it right....first grow is learning that is for sure. I'm going to make this work if I can because I can't just trash 160.00 setup and start over! Know what I mean??

I've also got a case of fungas gnats from roots organic soil, lots of choices I would do different with my 20/20 hindsight!
