Hello everybody on AF.
I'm a first time grower (and poster), but a long time smoker. Now i finally bought everything to do a proper grow (hopefully). I could use some advice from the many experienced growers on this great forum. I have done alot of research but i still need some clarification :Sharing One:

My setup is the following:

Growlab 80 (80cm/80cm/180cm)
VIPAR 600W LED - Actual pull is 360W or something in that range. Uses 3W diods.
4x5 gallon ProPot ( Will start with 2, not 4 )
BioBizz fertelizer series ( Root juice, biobloom, cal/mg, Grow, TopMax and Bio Heaven )
I use a premixed soil ( I got it recommended by a grower i know in real life. Pretty cheap )
Hygrometer, PH meter and EC meter ( don't really know if i need it, better safe than sorry ) is ready
3x Auto Devil Cream seeds ( Sweet seeds )
3x Auto Trainwreck ( Sweetds seeds )
1x Auto Critical + ( Dinafem )
1x Auto Cheese ( Dinafem )

I start with the 2 free seeds (Auto cheese and Auto Critical +)

I still need to buy carbon filter, Extractor and ducting.
Questions:

1. How long distance from the light (600W ~ 360W, 3w diodes)? I did read something about 20-30 inches from the canopy. A little lower during flowering. Any suggestions?

2. Is 30c @ 86-87F too hot?

3. I still need to buy the ventilation kit, and my thought are; 5m Acoustic ducting, 12.5cm Extractor fan (250-300 m3/h) and a carbon filter ( 300 m3/h ) - Does that sounds reasonable for my setup?

Any feedback would be highly appriciated.

Have a great day!

Ahhh I had it all typed out, switched tab and lost it! Let's try this again.

Welcome donkrille, to AFN.

I love your choice of autos and would really like to try the train and critical, I hope they all turnout great!

The Led height depends on what part of the grow. Seedlings I would keep them 2 to 3 feet away at first to see how they react, then as they establish sturdy roots you can lower it. Keep it on growth mode in the early stages as the bloom usually doesn't do much IMO. Once they get bigger you can go full blast and literally touch LEDs to the plant without harming them but you will want it high enough so the whole canopy gets light. (IMO) (lollipopping is very important for led). Just pay close attention to light penetration and how your girls react.

As for the temperature, its to hott IMO without the room being sealed with c02, but your ducting / air movement will cool it down when you get it. A osculating fan will also help keep air moving over your canopy while supplying fresh c02 to the girls.
My buddy/expert grower always told me the magic number is 77 degrees f and I could see his babies loved it.

Always a good thing to have a pH pen. Soil should be around 6.5ph. Ec and ppm is important so you give them proper food doses. Sounds like a good regimine to me, not sure of some of those products myself but I heard cal mag so you must know what your doing in that realm.

As for ducting, I'm not a wizard. But I can tell you what I use.
4inch hydrofarm inline w/ carbonscrubber as my intake. 190cfm on speed controller.
6inch ventech w/ carbon scrubber as exhaust. 440 cfm on speed controller. Both are straight piped for max air flow.
Both fans are suspended by wires and straps instead of screwed to the ceiling with brackets. That way they don't vibrate and cause a lot of noise.

I hope this answers questions, feel free to ask more Qs because I like sharing my knowledge..
I hope the led works out for ya, I've heard good things about the Vipars. Feel free to introduce yourself in the introduction section, the members will show some love.
Cheers!:wiggle:

Thank you for the quick feedback, The green Bastard. That was highly appriciated. Every information will come in handy.

Any other want to give some feedback based on your own experience?

Sounds good to me too Donk, you'll find the temps drop quickly once you have a fan. You'll only need one 4" fan extracting through a carbon filter for your tent, make sure you leave enough vents open at the bottom for passive intake, at least twice as much as your ducting width is a good rule of thumb.

Since you're running an led you might need a greenhouse heater to keep temps up during the winter if you live somewhere cool!

Hello Bilbo,

Thank you for the feedback. Based on your suggestion I found this:

4" Prima Klima with FAN Controller - Pulls 280 m3/h ( http://www.primaklima.biz/tempctrl.html )
4" RHINO filter - Up to 350 m3/h
5M of acoustic ducting insulated

Does that sounds reasonable for my setup?

Thanks guys and have a great day! :)

That looks very good for the job, quality manufacturers too so should last you a long time :)

Hey Donkrille, great seed selection you've got there! I think GreenB's advise is great. And, your fan choice should be good for your enclosure. 86-87 degrees is a bit too hot, though some strains like the heat. And, yes, once you have the exhaust fan in place, you'll likely lose 8-10 degrees of heat due to the constant air transfer. Look forward to your grow! Best to you!

Bilbo: Sounds great! Already ordered the ventilation and insulated ducting. Rhino filter to go.

Hey Waximus!

Thanks for the great feedback. Really appriciated!

The grow is ongoing right now and the seedlings finally shows them self. I was a bit worried about the 18L ~ 5 Gallon pots, but it seems that it all goes "as it should be"

I can't complain about the light either. The plants seems to like it. I will maybe invest in a fanless high quality LED light in the future (Tent in bedroom, need a great amount of silence.

Thank guys and great day! :Cool bud:

Nice choice of seeds man. I've found Dinafem are reasonably forgiving so great for a first time grow. You're setup sounds great. An alternative to a greenhouse heater is to chuck in a couple of cfls. Heat & extra light. Subbed in :)

Hey Donkrill,

Good Luck on yer grow here my new friend. Just be safe.

I have grown out the auto cheese from Dinafem before.

It was a freebie, so' I didn't go all out on it, but it did give me about 30 grams of sweet cheese smoke. Good stuff.

Hope to see your stuff soon
