Lighting Garage Grow heater help

Hello peeps.

Quick question about heat while growing in a DS90 tent and a GN MS0004 LED combo, whilst in my garage.


I'm in the northern UK and starting my first grow (grew outside this summer, but that's, like, totally a whole other thread..)

I know I need to keep my temps up, so I can keep the RH in a good place and also the plant/s warm.


What would you guys suggest? It's a single car garage on the side of my house, it does get cold in the winter.


I was thinking an 80w tube heater, but perhaps I'm better with an oil heater with a decent thermostat.

Obviously I've only got a 900mm square footprint to work with, and I'm only intending to grow one auto at a time in 15L airpot.

You reckon a couple of tubes either side of the tent would be required?


I may even make a box with that thick rock wool sheet to enclose three sides and the back of the tent if necessary

Hay no worries bro. Hard to say about how many heaters, but I'd say at least two for that space but you could add more. Be careful with rock wool near your plants man,that stuff gets everywhere.

I hear you bud, but it's construction grade rock wool, it's ridged like plaster board, and as it will be outside the tent it should not be in contact.


But given your advice I think I'll just stand the tent on top of a sheet of it to keep the whole thing off the cold concrete.

Actually that's true.



Right I'll wait till my tent arrives and dial the whole lot in before growing in it, that way I won't fist myself, by having to sort it all out while I'm underway!

I've previously grown in a garage for 6 years and it's was a struggle..too hot in summer and freezing in winter.

Its possible to grow in that environmentand and I used a thermostatic radiator in the grow tent which helped with temps ..the only thing no one mentions is the air extraction and ducting...I discovered that over time the warm air being extracted was, due to the cold air surrounding my tent, condensing and led to a build up of water in the ducting.

I ended up constructing a grow room within the garage from a timber frame, kingspan insulation, plasterboard which made life easier..even in Sumner

And just to add ,the cost of building the room was a tad over £350 which is roughly the price of a good grow tent for the same size

That's solid advice bro, I hadn't even thought about the condensation in the ducting, I could perhaps combat that by having the ducting run off on a downward slope?
