Been lurking for a week or so and know I should say hi...You people have tons of knowledge and experience and I hope to borrow some of that learn'n...been out of cannabis since late 80"s but retired now and I need a hobby...well thanks in advance for everything...plan on starting a grow..couple of plants in spring..indoors of course!...

question...I have to leave for a week during the grow...do the plants have to be monitored every day? ...what would be best week to not be around to check..middle weeks?

Hi, AK49ER :) Thanks for the introduction. Glad you joined us! Methinks you chose a great hobby. We're a big family around here, so don't hesitate to let us know if we can be of help.
What are you growing your plants in? Soil, hydro? A week is a long time in plant thirst years... lolol Any chance you have someone to tend to their bar tab in your absence? They should be fine for a couple days, if watered, but someone should make sure they're not parched :)
Looking forward to sharing your growing! Best to you!:Sharing One:

Welcome AK49er, more Alaskans joining everyday, this is awesome:Cool bud:. Lots of cool folks here and tons of info. Looking forward to your grow journal and hope your weather has been better there than its been in South Central. We need more snow :dunno:

Waximus..Thanks for the welcome...probably using soil..yeah a week gone for a wedding that would be 8 weeks in if I start when I would like....might just have to delay start until after....thought maybe if I delayed start until later in spring I would be in a better or more forgiving place in the grow but if that can't happen I will just go with it and wait ...thanks

AKsteel....yeah raining here in Feb..ha....hope I am not going to fight mold during my grow...humid here...thanks for the welcome

Hey there 49,
If you use larger pots, such as 5 gallon, with soil, and use LED lights on a timer in a tent, you could easily be gone for a week. Often I let mine go for a week. Although I'm using just 90W LED UFO lights.

..Alaskan1.....gives me hope and something to do during spring...appreciate the input..trying to figure my lay out and equipment....when you let them go for a week was it a specific time of the grow?....probably going LED and tent

You might want to check out this grow journal I did a while back:

Shows you how I did it. Because the tent stays cool, even toward the end of the harvest when the plant are large, I can water once a week pretty easily if I have 5 gallon pots. Three gallon pots are all you need, but if you know you will be gone for a week, go with 5. Make sure your soil mix has good moisture retention.
