Hello guys. I am in need of some advice. I am currently running an air cooled hood and veg under a 600w mh and flower under a 600w hps. I don't run a perpetual grow. I don't have heat issues since I have plumbed my hot air out and piped cool intake air in. But I am in envy of the LED panels i see out there. I have been looking at a Mars 2 1200w panel to replace my mh/hps setup. Any opinions are welcome here. If you had your choice would you run a Mars 1200w LED panel or hortilux 600w hps if the ONLY factors were productivity in flower. Remember throw temp, power and all other factors out I am only concerned with productive flower producing power.

Thanks guys AFN rocks

Hey I've personally haven't used the 1200w I do use the 900w and 1600w and the Flower Production is Great. If grown with 600w and 100w Mh/HPS. The MH is awesome in Veg and that's the only benefit over the LEDs even though the Veg very well as well. We aren't worried about veg as we want flower production. With my 900w Mars2 my Buds are always Dense and trich production is up to Par. Another thing I noticed is a lot of my Lower buds are now Buds instead of Small Hash Material that wasn't Jar worthy with the LEDs the penetration is Excellent. I think you will be happy with the switch if you decide.

Thanks for yhe input weedman if I decide to make the switch it will be when flowering begins and I agree flowering is what we do!

I'd suggest 2 or 3 700w's for more even coverage.
I run 3 900MII's and I would have gone with more smaller wattage units rather than fewer high power units.
Cost more that way but coverage would be insane.
First I would suggest reading Mars warranty and seeing if your comfortable with that before making a purchase.
Caveat Emptor

My tent is only 3x3 would the single 1200w have any trouble covering that area

It would be Killer in there man. And like Ronin said read the warranty and make sure you are getting a 3 year instead of a 1.

Nope.
More than enough coverage.
The 1200 is rated to cover a 5x5' area.

One thing I've noticed to with the Mars is I personally think there coverage is anywhere from a .5-1 ft Lower then described

Everything is going to a one year warranty...

Yes, the coverage is not quite up to "spec".
I'm running 2 900's in a 4x8 and there is a a gap in coverage.
3 in that space would be optimum.

I'm a new grower, so my input isn't worth a whole lot, but what I can say is I did extensive research into the more "affordable" brands keeping warranties in mind. I have a comparable sized tent to yours, 39"x39"x78". I was also looking at purchasing the Mars led's as well. I ended up purchasing 2 300w GalaxyHydro led's and have been running them for a little over a month and they've been working great. I went with them simply because the warranty was more extensive then the Mars, and the reviews were great. The price is similar to Mars just a longer warranty. One caveat is the old mars model had more power, but from what I understand that is no longer the case.
