Howdy guys, im new to this forum and compared to many of you, new to growing. That said, iv been discreetly growing autoflowers for over a decade now, albeit irregularly.

I have a question about lighting, its hypothetical, but im guessing must happen from time to time.

So here goes, if you are growing in a tent, lets say some black sugar fems, and you have reduced their light to 12/12 and then for reasons beyond your control, you have to take the tent down and discreetly rehome the said plant outdoors. But out doors, the light cycle is much longer than 12/12.
What will be the effect on the plant, the flowers, the yield?

Depending on how strong genetics and how far in flower. . Good genetics and no buds formed then it will veg. Bad genetics or buds forming then it will most likely Bruce Jenner.

Welcome to AFN! Glad to hear you are back to growing autos! They are hard to stop once you start, lol. Sooo, as far as your question is concerned, it the rehomed plants are autos, they will be fine (considering temps are in range). The more light hours, the better, seems to be the common autoflowrtr rule. If it's a photoperiod, it will start to reveg itself when its getting more than 12 hrs of light. Then revert back to flower when 12/12 is reintroduced.

Welcome to AFN @Yourmom
Hmmm i dont know much about photoperiods, but im sure it would depend how long the plant was on 12/12 for. If it wasnt long is it possible the plant could reveg?

Maybe @Mañ'O'Green could answer this one?
@Yourmom Welcome to AFN. To get someone’s attention put the at-mark @ in front of their AFN name like I did for you. @archie gemmill will be tagging you with some important AFN information.

@woody is correct the plants will most likely re-veg. until the day shortens. If the environment allows you to grow as big as the plant wants they can get quite large with amazing yields. There are a lot of variables but that is what I have seen.

Thanks guys.
Follow up question:When a flowering plant returns to vegetative growth, as in this hypothetical situati9n, what happens to any flowers/buds that are forming/have formed?

Arent autos fascinating?
If it's an auto why the 12/12 cycle?
