thanks,
i was wondering regarding the lighting schedule for the plant.
i get around 6hrs of sunlight here( winter season) and was thinking of putting up cfl lights or t5 or t8 tubes whichever is available here. mh or hps is difficult as electricity can be an issue and also because i have no way to control the temperature of the room. i am growing only the one plant any idea how many lights and what wattage would be ok?? (low watts recommended :P)

Hi Hairy :)

I take it you are either on a budget or equipment is difficult ot get in your area. so an LED would be out of the question?

If controlling heat is the issue: LED wins. It puts out less heat than other lighting.

CFL comes second - it's cheaper to buy initially but puts out more heat - in a really small cab that can still be a problem without correct ventillation.

I think the normal advice is around 50w per square foot for decent growing.

If you went the LED route - i'd get one good one and put it over your plant and she'll be happy.

If you went the CFL route - I'd get a 200w Flowering spectrum bulb and a few smaller 20/30w cfls to strategically position lower than the main cola so the lower buds get plenty of light.

You can get a CFL within a couple of inches of the plant (heat permitting)
You'll need about 6-8 inches above the plant for LED in flowering to avoid any serious light bleaching :) (maybe more with the latest generation LEDS)

Namaste hairy one!

Oh boy, we are getting International. I now can brag that I have friends in India. Get your friends to join up also. I can envisage the AFN-Asia sub branch before too long. With yours truly as the , ahem, Treasurer in chief? OK maybe not.

You are very welcome. Anything you need, just ask one of the others. Anytime.
Enjoy all that is AFN my friend.

thanks for helping :D
i was wondering that during night times temperature here drops till around 10 degrees celsius. so if i use cfl can that little bit heat also help the plant in any way.

also if i use a single mh bulb or hps blub that should also be enough for the plant? (250 w mh bulb i can buy but that i will have to check if it will work at my apartment or not)

day time is usually sunny so i put in the balcony for afternoon-evening till sunsets.
night time i put it inside.

thank you :D

hi again!
