Growing? Check with your insurance provider!

Be it indoor or outdoor, if you're growing in/on an insured space/area, call your insurance provider and ask their policy on the subject! You may be at risk of losing said insurance!

My situation...
My parents gave me their blessing to grow in their house that resides on owned property in the middle of nowhere. Due to recent damage to the house [stupid tree!] renovations were made and it just so happens that I got a grow room out of the deal! Blessing in disguise right? Wrong! Along with reno's comes Building Inspectors and Insurance Appraisals. Though that was all expected, we did get one hell of a shocker!

Went to the rents...
Me: "so how is [insurance provider] gonna feel about the room? You said it was a closet"
Rents: It is a closet.
Me: Ya, with no clothes, a grow light, and 6 matured plants.
Rents: It shouldn't matter. Its all legal.

On the phone with Insurance Provider...
"If found in possession of illegal items or substances, your contract with [insurance provider] is void. This includes both State and Federal laws."

So basically, If any of these inspectors see my grow, which is in one of the only rooms they'll be checking...my parents will lose their insurance on the house. Needless to say, I relocated the plants.

One day there will be a "Growroom Policy" available from your insurance provider! :toke:
