Mephisto Genetics how true are the descriptions of meph seeds effects

I know you're not new to growing so this isnt neccesarily pointed at anyone particular in the thread but just to the general audience reading this thread and for the people in the future reading this thread
Heed @slowandeasy on this one. While I am of the school of thought that science shows the plant's max terpinoid, flavonoid and cannabinoid content will be at its peak and best state when all trichomes are milky, many want their effects to be different and the plant will metabolize the cannabinoids further as the plant ages. What a lot of growers will do is they will usually try this method of snip one bud when you think its done and do a fast dry in a few hours and smoke it. See how it does, if it's good chop the plant and trim, if not let it go a few days and try again. You know you may have lost a couple grams early. But if the plant is ready, then its ready and go to town. It really helps with mephisto strains especially for some reason. Plant effecta can have a very big difference in only a few days.

And yes, phenos can vary over time if refinements are made and seeds are still a genetic roll of the dice, just refined and mostly all the same number on every side but theres still random chance. And it is a discussion that was ongoing about a week back here. And things change. too and over time autos will advance further. I can honestly see autos overtaking photos for small home grows. In going to attempt photos but doubt I'll ever clone or do it for any serious attempt. Why spend 100 days for something I can do in 75 days... That's why I've learned when you find what works.... BUY THE WHOLE STORE:crying:
I press a LOT of Rosin. You can tell a lot by how a strain presses. This is where taking plants too long is not good. I agree, I believe Autos finish faster and also degrade/change effects, smells, tastes, ect faster than most Photo plants. For max Rosin production, Harvesting on the earlier side will yield a more light colored and Terpy extract. If you wait til the trichs turn Amber, some strains may have changed smells or looks even. Definitely if you take too long the Rosin production goes down. Visually it will be much darker and the smells will have changed. When harvested early, the Rosin tastes exactly how the plant smells. As the plant ages too much it degrades, the Terpenes change, and The smell/taste does as well. This is sometimes pleasing to have different smells, tastes, effects from same Herb. But if you go a few days too long with some Autos and the Quality can reduce quickly. This is why I say for someone new, you might want to take samples every few days once near the end of the cycle. I have taken a handful of Autos too long. I took a Cosmic Queen too long and it barely produced Rosin. The few I have Mephisto I have taken extra long were definitely of a much lower quality. I personally aim for mostly cloudy and very LITTLE Amber on my Autos. I think by the time you have a decent amount of of Amber and then dry it...the quality can change rapidly on certain Autos. The whole internal clock theory could play a role.

My theory is that that Autos have a Faster metabolism. They finish faster, and don't need light changes. This in my opinion translates to optimal Harvest time. I will use my Sour Stomper that I just cut down last week. It was cut down perfectly for my personal needs. It had mostly Cloudy on top and a mix of Clear/Cloudy a little lower. The looks and smell are Optimal, not underripe looking at all. The smells are intense, even after being dried. This IMO is one of the FASTEST things to change in Autos, smells decrease fast if taken too long. So my Sour Stomper, Pressing A+ Rosin. Perfectly done. Light colored and smells just like the buds at harvest, excellent yield and not over Terpy. Sometimes you can get Terpene heavy strains that smell and look stronger than they are. Many Purple strains look awesome and smell fantastic...but often don't pack the massive punch. Not always, but in general the lighter stains with lower Terpene levels press the best Rosin. I have a patient that always wants "light" colored strains, he thinks they are more potent. I will say in general I get more Rosin from lighter strains vs darker strains in general. But I also believe Terpenes can enhance your buzz. So for most Autos the Optimal harvest time for Terpene level and strength is when there is minimal AMBER at harvest.

So you're definitely on the right track with those plant selections to get to sleep and wanting to shut off the mind and you know what im talking about with that few moments of clarity of thought before the "hey what happened? its the next morning already? I've been asleep for 12 hours?!? WTF, i thought I was just watching I Love Lucy!?!". It's hard to describe how it is to those who never had to drink just to try and sleep. I will say when you first step over from drinking to smoking, its gonna be hard to give up the bottle. You will have the shakes for a week or two and mentally want a drink every night for about 3 months. but DONT GIVE UP!!!!(I'm not trying to be mean in saying all this, i had to do it myself, and i had to go cold turkey, doctor said it was 28 days or nothing, i couldn't let the hubby alone for 28 days. So the cannabis it was, reminding me every moment how much i needed to be away from nightly binge drinking and keep it in moderation).
Anywhoo, sorry again to sound so much like a parent lecturing, im just giving the low down on me

to be honest i don't have any side effects from not drinking to sober , the only problem i have is the no sleep side effect, i can be awake almost all the night to be honest, with booze I'm asleep in 5 mins, with no booze i am awake almost all the night, albeight a couple hours here and there, when i don't drink I'm looking over the quilt every 10 mins lol

I suggest you get yourself a vape and give vaping a try when you do the switch over to cannabis for sleep, even if you smoke it now. I go back and forth between vaping and smoking. Now and again ill do edibles, but they can take forever, and then last forever, and sometimes for me they dont work and theres no rhyme or reason. Same for my hubby, but either he has and i havent, i have and he hasent or everyone else has had the same batches and doses and been bombed and we arent....
For a few months ill smoke, then ill vape for a few months then back and forth. The nice thing about the strains you picked out
It's always good to have both. I will say, when you have a good supply for your sleep and know how your growing goes,

I've got a dynavap ti vape i can use and a vape exhale cloud

you're gonna find you wanna have some double grape for those timesyou do want that occasional super special smoke because its a hell of a lot cheaper than having to get a 6 pack and easier than finding it on last moments notice on Christmas day! I know its silly, but all these strains are strong as shit. like the lowest thc is sour crack

I'm putting one of them in no worries .

As far as anxiety, yes it is a state of mind, but also it is a chemical, physical, emotional and neurological state of mind too (and may be other states to which I will yield to others beliefs and opinions). the fact is that chemical and neurological signals along with emotional queues all play into the issues surrounding anxiety and phobias as well as attacks. There are so many easy ways to just write it off as just some easy problem that one should just ignore. But in all reality, your reality is the reality that is real to you. Just as my reality is the reality that is real to me and is the only reality i see. To you your reality is the only one that exists. Just as to another person reading this, their reality is the only one that exists. We all live in a coexistence through which our realities are so meshed and intertwined together that they become one and the same reality and as such we begin to lose touch with the fact that we do have our own person. Remember this phrase "I matter". So it is ok to deal with having anxiety as long as we acknowledge that others do not have "our" reality to deal with, but their reality has its own cravats. Just like different strands of yarn may be yarn, they still have different materials that make them up, yet they all come together to make a blanket that creates the tapestry we call humanity. We are able to stand up strong because we take the help from each other, their strengths are our weaknesses. So I encourage you to make sure you keep posting here, and make sure any anxiety you may have about asking questions here fly free. feel free to pm me, tag me ( type @MissUniverse ) and if i can help ill try or i can just tag someone who can help

when you say 1x1 i assume 1 metre x 1 metre. if so, that should be ok. I run in a 24inch x 48inch x 60in tall and run 6-8 packed in there as tight as possible and it gets me a good grow. also as you get along further you can start doing perpetual growing and just always have a harvest every about 3 weeks and have bud always coming in.

yes i have a 1x1tent with a pro led fitting and a ecotechnics controller for environment .
my real problem is not the kit and the environment , its basically selecting the right strains tbf

hopefully i didnt offend you with this reply, but i figured you appreciated a long drawn out message last time, so i would take the time to write out a long one this time too. if you want to, feel free to follow me (you can click my profile pic which is the weed flower and then hit follow in the box that pops up, or click to my profile page here https://autoflower.net/forums/members/missuniverse.31870/, and then to the right hit follow). I went a head and followed you.
Please document your grow here, i want to see it and see you do well!

you would do well to offend me tbh, I'm as hard as nails lol, i am not after the perfect answer , just a smidgeon of experience to help build the answer.

the obligatory end note this is not to be taken as medical advice see your doctor disclaimer here, just friendly advice from someone whose been there and done that. wds from alcohol are horrible!!!!

@slowandeasy I've found the same thing with purple buds that I've smoked they never have any punch and I've tried a few different ones I guess pressing them doesn't make them any better from what you say

@slowandeasy thank you for your well thought out replies, in general I learn a great deal from reading what you share. You got me thinking.. one thing with autos that I haven’t been super impressed with was the tastes and smells especially after harvest & drying.. I keep operating under the assumption that the mega crop has had a negative effect on taste and quality from what I remember growing photos with organic soil.. then I thought maybe it’s just user error, I’m rusty, or maybe I’m doing something wrong I’m not aware of. But now you got me thinking maybe I’m not taking them at their absolute best time, perhaps that can explain more the inconsistencies that I see with my buds since I started growing autos. One plant it’s like, the smell is there the taste is there, and the next one, I don’t know where the smells go. I had been assuming the issue was elsewhere but I had not considered I could b harvesting at better times.

How do you look at your trichromes? I wonder what your secret is because I have such a hard time distinguishing between clear and cloudy.. probably because my current method of checking them is with a 15x loupe over the lense of my camera phone on about 5x digital zoom but it’s so unstable it’s hard to really get a good look longer than a few seconds before focus is lost again

Organic buds grown properly will taste and smell great. Mega Crop does a great job too, some of the frostiest Autos to date come from my MC plants. This is just my theory. I don't have scientific proof, but lots of experience. Autos are super fast growing and I feel like the "internal clock" that Autos have has something to do with the changes we see vs photos. I have had some VERY strong smelling Autos. Out of the hundreds of plants, of course some have gone longer than desired. The decline in taste, flavor, Terpene and Rosin production all decrease a lot if taken too long. Waiting an extra week for some strains to bulk up can change the flavor, taste, smell, potency, ect I am harvesting earlier than I used to because I see the smell/taste are stronger and this translates with dry/cure.

I know man, it can be hard to distinguish but there‘s a method which is a bit easier and will help you out:

Look after the very first sign of amber trichs and chop your plant right in that moment ... it‘s easy to distinguish between amber and not amber.

Same here .... I‘ve grown Strawberry Nuggets, both phenos, the purple one is very nice to look at but the „normal“ one is the better weed.

Do any of you guys think grow room temps play a role in taste and flavors. I have noticed at temps above the mid 80'sF (I usually grow right at 80'F), the plants stink a lot more, than grown at 80'F. Is it possible that hotter temps are cooking off the terpenes. This could be very much the same as letting them go longer and letting more of them cook off (or perhaps evaporate is a better term).
Just curious what you guys think.
cheers
os
